Adding a USB Device via command without resetting the computer ?

Hi, Proxmox When I want to add an external USB disk or usb stick, how can I identify the USB Device via the command prompt without resetting the computer from the Proxmox Interface?

Hey,

USB port/device passthrough[1] is not really hot-pluggable, therefore after adding/removing one you have to restart the VM. If you use SPICE you could try that[2].

udevadm control --reload-rules && udevadm trigger

iirc, once external drive is added and VM rebooted one time then external drive will be hotplug within VM.

What is the command: udevadm control do ? As just plugging any usb unit with automatically load up and be shown in lsusb.
