About Mail Gateway ?

By installing the free Mail Gateway version, can I update the virus definitions for clamav CLAMAV? Or do I necessarily have to activate the COMMUNITY version?
Is there an alternative repository to the one made available with the comunity version? (Access to Enterprise repository)

Proxmox Mail Gateway is free, open-source software, licensed under the GNU AGPLv3. Therefore the "free" (no-subscription repo) version is not limited or restricted in terms of what you can do with the software.
The difference is that the enterprise repository is a stable, heavily tested repository, that we recommend for production use, while the no-subscription repository receives all the latest updates and features, with the trade-off being that it has not been tested as much.
You can remove the enterprise repository withrm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pmg-enterprise.list and add the no-subscription repository discussed here: https://pmg.proxmox.com/pmg-docs/pmg-admin-guide.html#pmg_package_repositories

To add to the on-spot answer by @dylanw - the clamav definitions and their updates are handled by clamav-freshclam - and get updated by default.
If you want to add additional signature sources to freshclam you would need to do so via the templateing engine:
