My Proxmox Hypervisor 6.3-2 behaves really strange after reboot. It was used to test terraform deployment and after reboot it changed his hostname to one of the machines that were deployed by Terraform. Now I cannot access the 8006 port and it also has got out of the cluster. The logs says that...
Hello,
I have 2 VM's currently running on my node. After researching how to change the hostname, it states only doing so on an empty node. Is it possible to get around this or would I have to configure a new server first, set the hostname, add SSL and migrate VM's? Any information or...
I currently have an ubuntu LXC installed on my proxmox server in order to setup a nextcloud service.
In order to do this I am following this learnlinux youtube guide here.

I have done the same and I...
Hi all,
I want to change the hostname of my PVE. It is already setup and running numerous VMs.
I know I need to edit /etc/hostname and also /etc/hosts but from what I have read elsewhere on the forums and also online is that some directories also need to be moved for the VMs to continue...
Hi.
I was trying to change the hostname, by editing /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts following the guide from the wiki.
It didn't work as I found 2 different nodes into the Web UI, then I moved all the content from the old node folder in /etc/pve/nodes to the new one (this includes lxc, qemu-server...
Dear,
For all proxmox VM i simply configure the hostname and the DHCP service maps it to an FQDN so i can ping myhost.sub.sub.mydom.tld
Except for the one container i'm running, that does not work at all, whatever i try. The only difference i notice is the dhcp client here is udhcpc but i've...
PVE newbie here.
How do I disable the following "auto-change-files upon startup" behavior?
I have very-specific settings in /etc/hostname and /etc/resolv.conf (read: I know what I'm doing) in my Ubuntu 20.04 LXC container. PVE appears to be auto-changing values in these files upon every...

in addition to the localip, I would like to add another line hostnamectl or fqdn of this PVE node.
How do I do that?

After changing an LXC container Hostname under its DNS setting, I can ping it, but can no longer SSH to it.
Other containers are accessible and the renamed container was accessible before the Hostname change. Is this a known issue or any suggestions?
Thanks.
Hallo Gemeinde,
Achtung: Augenzwinkerthema! ;)
Hi,
I have configured this hostname in GUI (see screenshot):
ct102-haproxy.whl.meilocal.net
However, the CLI output for displaying Fully qualified domain name returns:
ct102-haproxy:~# hostname -f
ct102-haproxy.whl.meilocal.net.local
How can this inconsistency be fixed?
Hello,
I tried to change my host name, after I did that, I tried to move all the files from /etc/pve/nodes/OldHost to /etc/pve/nodes/NewHost. But some files wouldn't copy. I tried to restart the server and it has messed up the config.db, the GUI wouldn't work etc.
After deleting the config.db...

Hello,
So I have an LXC container running Ubuntu 16.04. I created a script that changes the default hostname (LXC-Ubuntu) to a randomly generated series of letters and numbers.

Hello,
Basically, I am running an LXC Ubuntu container and a Windows 7 VM in my environment. I want to be able to clone these and have each clone designated with a unique host name.

i have installed a new 4.2 with some KVM machine (standalone pve) how i change hostname?
the debian way? (/etc/hosts /etc/hostname and postfix main.conf ?) orthere are other setting to touch?
tnks.
So I set up a Ubuntu container with the hostname "test", when I started the container and typed in hostname -f it just shows "test".
Also the entry within the /etc/hosts file just has 127.0.1.1 test in it, not the full domain name which should be test.ho.me.
So I've set the hostname directly to...
