When opening up console, is it possible to view Ubuntu Desktop (GUI) instead of command-line? I used standard Ubuntu 12 template and installed the Ubuntu Desktop package.. or do I need to run a separate vnc server to accomplish this?
Many thanks!
Marc
Has anyone tried using a SAS Switch with multiple servers connected? Would this be a good way to provide live migration from box A to box B ? And even failover if a particular server dies completely?
I am curious as I just learned about SAS Switching today. I've been wanting a better way than a...
I need to migrate servers to new IP addresses. My server has 2 NICS and I just connected the eth1 today nothing yet configured for eth1.
eth0 is active, (default settings)
eth1 is inactive
vmbr0 is active with eth0 under the ports/slaves with ip 38.81.xxx.2 and gateway of 38.81.xxx.1
I want...
I am just now starting to migrate my small 8 server cluster from 1.9 to 2.2. I am starting with new hardware, so no upgrading issues.
Currently I have 2 Servers running 2.2 on Identical Hardware and setup the cluster. I have 2 virtual machines on 1 server and NONE on the other server. When I...

Just curious why there are not 64 bit options when downloading the templates in the GUI, but the 64bit version of CentOS is in the wiki?
Curious why it's called AMD64?
This made my employees think it would only work on AMD hardware. We use mostly Intel.

Here's a quick how to for installing the latest R1Soft CDP 3.0 Enterprise Agent into Proxmox. I figured I'd share if someone else is wanting to do it...
Note you might have to change the version numbers based on what's new..
install kernel headers and unzip:
apt-get install...
I am building a server where several of the virtual servers should access the same data on another one of the virtual servers (on the same physical hardware). I have tried to setup an NFS share, but I get an error:
mount.nfs: No such device
I am using the default CentOS 5.2 with yum...
this is more complicated than I was hoping for. Is there a way for proxmox to mount containers in different volumes? that would seem easier.. like when you create a container, you pick the volume you want to put it on, including like a share point.
How is this done? Basically I want to have 8 x 1TB Drives attached to a nice Adaptec card... But Proxmox errors out when trying to install. It can't handle that RAID size. DOS has no trouble with it.
Do do I use this LVM2 in Proxmox?
Thanks

Has anything been done to enable large volume support? And what I mean is RAIDs that are over 4TB? Previously I had a problem with RAID 5 on a 4 x 1TB system and had to use RAID 10 (only 2TB total).
With drives getting larger and larger, this will be a serious problem. We need a lot of...
Appliance Templates aren't correctly linked.. it seems there are newer ones but the Interface doesn't update. So where do I put the newer ones so they will be recognized?

I found this helpful if you just want to measure traffic:
http://wiki.openvz.org/Traffic_accounting_with_iptables
Works very easy, prob could be incorporated into Proxmox with a couple days of effort.
Hello, I am setting up a new piece of hardware:
Supermico Case w/ Integrated Motherboard
2 x Quad Core 2 (2.5 Ghz Processors)
16GB Ram
4 x 1TB SATA Hard Drives in RAID 5 configuration
Adaptec SATA RAID Controller 5805
I only get through the first few steps. It detected the RAID as a...
I got it working, it was a lot of work. I used the Yum Repo and installed on CentOS 5. Using Yum, things aren't configured like the RPM, so there's lots of work that has to be done configuring things.
I am going to see if I can simplify and make some instructions.
Fewer Servers
My goal is to have fewer servers :) We currently have 4 racks of servers and it's hard to maintain all of them.
Right now I have 4 low-end (Dell 850) servers with Proxmox and I'm experimenting with the configurations that work best. My goal is to reduce our foot print. I'd...
trying to get either Trixbox CE or Asterisk Now working... been having a lot of trouble. anyone? I wanted to do it as a container and not as a KVM.
