I suspect the answer here will be consumer SSD / read the FAQ - but I'm trying to understand if there is anything else I am missing. I'm curious as all four of these SSDs were running on Proxmox 6 in a cluster on different hosts without issue. When I built these two new-to-me servers the drives...
Just passing the card through with "All Functions" appears to be working great. Thanks all!
The documentation at PCI(e) Passthrough - Proxmox VE confused me as I thought you had to blacklist the driver / binding.
Thanks @dcsapak! I will try just passing them through. I have two other related questions:
1) I was playing around with just passing them through - when I go to add the card each port on the card shows as an individual device (0000:0a:00.0, .1, .2, .3) (see first screenshot), but when I try to...
Hello,
I have an HP DL380P G8 with four port onboard NIC and a PCIe four port NIC. They are both seen by Proxmox as "Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries NetXtreme BCM5719 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [14e4:1657] (rev 01)"
Is there some way add the PCI(e) card to modprobe to...
Did a reinstall of Proxmox using exactly the same method / setup. Followed the instructions in the reddit post linked above and this time it worked flawlessly.
I suspect one of the "other variations" I tried to get the USB to boot did something to make this not work.
I've acquired a few new (to me) HP DL380p G8 servers and plan to get a Proxmox cluster installed on them. These have the infamous P420i RAID controllers in them which will not boot from HDD when in HBA mode. I've done a bunch of research and know other people are successfully doing what I am...
I have come into some HP DL380 G8's and I was originally thinking about deploying them in my homelab as a three node Proxmox + Ceph hyper converged environment. Then I got into a rabbit hole of research on Ceph and also realized the impact to my power bill of running all of these servers 24x7...
Yeah, I have been playing around with this and notice the same behavior. NFS seems to be more tolerant, but still had the disconnect issue. Switching off cache on the share seems to resolve the problem. I've also opened a thread on the Unraid forum...
Thanks again! I tried NFS before and didn't have much luck. I can try it again though if that is the preferred method over CIFS.
Is there any way to force CIFS to not cache on the Proxmox side? I know it's a configuration option when you're using regular CIFS mounts (i.e. from a vanilla Linux...
Thanks @wolfgang. I have a thread open on the Unraid forums as well - I'll update that thread with this insight.
Is there a better way for me to connect Proxmox to Unraid in this case? I read an old thread about disabling caching via Proxmox, but it looks like a dated solution.
Hello,
I have several Linux boxes connecting to my NAS (powered by Unraid) via CIFS / SMB. Proxmox, in particular, is causing the NAS to run out of memory using over 8 - 10 GB of RAM over a period of days. This causes the NAS to trigger out of memory errors and the reaper to kill processes...
Hello,
I've been running into this issue recently where my cifs mount for "backup" randomly goes offline. The icon in the GUI has a question mark and I start seeing entries like this in the log:
Oct 11 11:41:05 vmh01 pvestatd[1371]: unable to activate storage 'backup' - directory...
Hi Folks,
Wondering about installing Proxmox onto a Cisco UCS server using the FlexFlash SD cards - is this possible / supported / recommended?
This is how you (can) install VMware on the UCS platform so the Hypervisor boots from SD and runs in memory.
Thanks!
