@Richard I am asking why the Proxmox GUI won't let me use any other name than rbd....Why is the option even there to change the pool name, when you proxmox GUI only lets you use "rbd" as the pool name.
This means that I am unable to add multiple rbd pools to ceph because proxmox only allows...
That is the strangest thing ever. Can you send me the logs for ceph-deploy....I am using fusion iodrives with ceph but on external cluster and they work fine.
Currently, no matter what you put in the GUI, once you save the rbd pool, with whatever name, it always saves as rbd.
This interferes with adding multiple external rbd pools. Can you please suggest how I can counter this?
For the rbd pool we shouldn't have to specify --data on every single image creation. I hope proxmox by default doesn't do it as the pool being used is the default rbd pool regardless of the following setting in my ceph.conf which is followed by openstack.

[Fixed] the ceph fs part with ec coded pool on external ceph.
Additionally, for the rbd we shouldn't have to specify --data on every single image creation. I hope proxmox by default doesn't do it as the pool being used is the default rbd pool regardless of the following setting in my...
Well, I have been trying to figure out why I couldn't mount a ceph fs on through the GUI. After hours of searching and digging I couldn't find anything.
Finally I was so tired of everything, that intead of putting three monitors in the monitor field, I just put one to prevent me from typing...
We want to run backup of CephFS with erasure coded backed pool at k=10 m=2, but we couldn't get this to mount on our proxmox ve 5.3
Also, being able to create EC RBD pools would be great where we are running with k=2 m=1, which has faster reads at low disk cost than replica=3
Also, get datacenter ssd, not a cheapo ssd like samsung evo/pro. If anyone will run mysql / fsync calls, that will sink the ssd. Get a proper datacenter ssd that can support high fsync calls.
lets do the math:
assuming that none of the students use this system to host large files for thirdparty downloads, you can quite easity manage this.
Imagine 300 students running 1 website per their kvm. Lets assume that each 200 of these websites get 100 visits a day with 1mb page load each...
