Hello all,
I am still running 0.9beta2 and have only one 3.8 TB disk array (GPT) vi Adaptec RAID50.
However the system is perfectly stable but I guess I should do an update soon to prevent too much handwork to be done.
Do you meanwhile support GRUB2+GPT ?
It's been somehow tricky installing...
Hello Dietmar,
sorry for the delay, but here is a result now about I was working with the last months:
venet is quite unuseful for me, because PVE plays a bridge role: I cannot reach the networks I want, no-one can reach me (sight of the server).
So the only useful way for me going is...
Hi,
I also set up a bonding interface, combining all four ports of a Intel quad port GBit card.
I used balance-rr, what seems to work fine. On the first test I got messages that packkets send from any bonding member are received on the other members, what was probably caused by the switch...
I did it now this way:
- installed PVE on a separate disk
- installed parted
- partitioned the large disk to PVE's needs
- copied /boot and lvm2vol's to the target partitions
- changed fstab (because the lvm VG is called pve1)
- changed lilo.conf to install on a third, USB disk
- copied...
After some investigation I found out, that the installer seems to try to create partitions of the correct size, but the disklabel used is 'msdos' and thus the lvm2 partition is smaller that expected.
Wouldn't it be an idea to use parted to create efi-gpt partitions (include support for these...
Hello,
after doing some tests on a AMD64 that worked out very well for me and waiting for the target platform I am now not able to install PVE on the target platform at all.
Changing to the console prompt of the installer it tells:
fsdisk: ERROR: sector 0 does not have an msdos signature...
Could you please tell me how venet devices (the multiple, comma separated IPs) are connected to bridges ?
I would assume that:
PVE looks for a bridge that matches the venet's network IP and then vitually 'plugges the cable into that switch' ...
and if it does not find a corresponding brigde...
Oops. That's not good.
After reading the network model document I understood bridges as virtual network switches with no connection to each other unless there is some VM playing the router role between them.
I planned to have this special setup:
- Having multiple physical eth's on my...
How are the several IP addresses (comma separated) of a OVZ CT venet connected to bridges ?
I would assume that an IP matching the network of a bridge is connected to the bridge while an IP that doesn't match any network of the bridges inside a pve is not connected at all and all packets send...
Hi Julian,
good question - after reading your post I also wondered about this issue.
Googling for vznetaddbr gave me this link:
http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=msg&goto=31852&
Seems if PVE is already taking care on this and route OVZ net eth's traffic to the bridge responsible for...
Hi,
just another few questions regarding networking in OVZ CTs:
- how can I use VLAN in OVZ CTs ?
- how do I enable special routes for multiple IPs in a OVZ CT ?
- are the different multiple IPs for a OVZ CT (btw: what is the maximum ? the input field is very short, maybe it's better...
Thanks a lot ! I was just too blind to see that the down arrows open menus on click.
But how do I add multiple IP addresses to an OpenVZ container ?
Comma separated list ?
And how to put it into multiple bridges ?
I was talking about something like this:
let's assume you have a...
Hello,
first of all, congratulations, the 0.9b2 is really very cool ! Looking forward the next releases.
I have some questions regarding virtio filesystem and networking:
virtio/fs:
I cannot choose the path for a virtio volume, or add a new virtio drive for kvm based system.
- is...
Hello,
I am going to setup a PVE system based on Tyan 5397 and Adaptec 51645 or 31605 and ~5 TB of SATA disks in a RAID 50.
For some KVM based VM's (Windows + Linux) I will need filesystems that exceed 200GB.
I fear that having image files of this size will become too slow and it won't...
Hello,
is it possible to access PCI(e) hardware from a OpenVZ CT (Debian) ?
I'd like to have two OVZ CT's that should:
1) play ISDN BRI to SIP proxy (YATE or so and a Gerdes, Junghanns, Dialogic, ... card)
2) access a tape library on a SCSI card for backup (amanda)
Thanks.
