Thanks. This seems to have worked.
I think I am missing another disk which was named similarily but from local-raid1 which was another set of hard drives. I see is in the path but I don't see the local-raid1 as storage inside GUI. How to add storage? what I marked 1 is I think good but what I...
Thanks, that worked but like pvesm free local-lvm:vm-disk basically TAB it all the way.
I did create a new one like this:
pvesm alloc local-lvm 20232 vm-20232-disk-1 102400M
and I GUI I see 107.37GB. Is that ok for the 100GB disk I have? or must it be exactly 100GB?
So how to remove the existing one? I am failing with pvesm remove 20232 (id of VM) and I tried device name and failed too.
I want to remove to recreate with 1024M (100GB)
Are you sure? Because when I tried to dd into that it right away said ran out of space.
Also I see pic below size is very little. Documentation said 1024M for 1GB I think
Thanks.
I put 100 for size stupidly. How to expand to 100GB or simply rm it and do new one?
I tried putting name, id of VM etc but failing to remove.
pvesm remove 20232
400 Parameter verification failed.
storage: invalid format - storage ID '20232' contains illegal characters
pvesm remove...
Thanks.
"pvesm alloc local-lvm 100 vm-100-disk-0 100" command must be run in /dev/mapper?
It seems I have to do c), d), e) f) from your post. Can you please re-check if all commands are to be run exactly as you said and nothing else needed (except for file name changes)?
Also, when I did dd...
I had an old drive failing and removed it from Proxmox 4.4.1. It was the main drive there. I installed new drives and installed Proxmox 8.2.1(latest).
On the old drive, I did dd with --sparse for copying a /dev/mapper/vm--disk-1 and now it shows 100GB and I transferred it to the new server...
Clonezilla installs on Proxmox mother one?
So it's safe to say that data lost is unrecoverable for good and forget about trying to recover since Proxmox is ultimate source for backing and since it fails there is no other alternative?
I have a failing HDD and a new backup HDD was added but when trying to BACKUP all fails with errors. Some did backup and some didn't. These are LXC Containers. What can I do to save those LXC Containers that do not copy?
Thanks,

I have a failing HDD that was part of "pve" group and was "thin" provisioned. I have moved some of it's data to another HDD that I installed with a new VG that is named "newdrive" but is not "thin" provisioned.
Now, I have a 6TB external USB storage connected to same server. I would like to do...
I have a server with two Intel E5620 CPUs. On the gui in summary it shows CPU(s)8 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 @ 2.40GHz (2 Sockets).
When I make containers I am assigning 4 CPUs to each container, and I have about 50 containers. I also have some KVMs, and I assign them 8 CPU cores each.

Hi LnxBil, how did you change it to run on Turbo mode at all times? I am interested to do the same as this is not overclocking and should be supported. I have DL360p Gen 8.
I just bought some old HP DL360p servers with E5-2660 CPUs. Each server come with two CPUs.
1- Can I run it on Turbo at all times somehow?
2- Would that be bad? (I don't care for power consumption)
Thanks,
We have been running PBX on containers for long time and they are proven to work with timing not being an issue.
Yes, the yum update break and complain because of headers/kernels...I think I expected a lot more from LXC and maybe I should lower my expectations. Was this the same when VZ was...
Thanks for the reply again. This is just a sample system and we are doing 64 bit anyway.
So, therefore, there is no way but to solve Yum update issues one by one each time there is a new update and hope things work? How do other systems work this well? for example a centos template is always...
Thanks for the feedback LnxBill. This is a FreePBX *Distro* running on a CentOS 6.6. Using your mentioned method once an LXC container is made would the yum update see the container kernel / headers exactly same as it saw it when it was in KVM mode? if not then this will break updates.
If Yes...
This is crazy because no browser works now. Chrome has an issue with resizing and see graphs as the page refreshes too often and is not stable. Firefox you can't click. I have the same problem with Proxmox 4.2.2 and latest Firefox and latest Chrome (jumping graphs in summary page).
