[SOLVED] Proxmox fails to boot after upgrade to version 8

Hello, we've tried to upgrade our cluster running 7-4-15 to latest 8. Pve7to8 didn't showed any problems, upgrade was fine as well. The issue is that it does not boot anymore after reboot, neither with new 6.5 kernel nor with old 5.15.x This is what I see in IPMI console, it just stuck I've...

[SOLVED] Problem with backup for specific LXC container

btw, I fixed backup. The problem lies in this line (somehow it didn't get my attention because of INFO level) INFO: tar: ./var/cache/apt/archives/util-linux_2.31.1-0.4ubuntu3.3_amd64.deb: File shrank by 501040 bytes; padding with zeros after removing this file on container, everything works fine.

[SOLVED] Problem with backup for specific LXC container

Hello, I have proxmox with bunch of LXC containers, I do backups of them regular using "backup" option in Proxmox to my NFS share, everything works fine except one container. I always get this message. command 'set -o pipefail && tar cpf - --totals --one-file-system -p --sparse...

VM disk use all ZFS storage available instead of assigned space

Hello, I have a strange problem. My Proxmox uses ZFS Raidz2 with 68 TB usable space, and has one VM with 40TB big volume. At the moment about 30 TB are already in use on this disk according to `du` running within VM. But ZFS shows that disk uses all 68TB. How is it possible? The VM in question...

    [SOLVED] Slow ZFS performance

I'm not sure where I'm wrong, SSD are faster than spinning drives, even the consumer ones (I'm not talking about 15k SAS enterprise drives of course). I know the link, because I've build Ceph clusters before and agree, you don't want to use cheap SSDs in Ceph clusters (I had good experience with...

    [SOLVED] Slow ZFS performance

Thanks for explanation, for me it still doesn't look right that system had so much IO wait with "sync=standard" which is default. I would understand it on spinning drives, but SSDs, even consumer grade, should be a bit faster. So not sure if it's bug or "feature"

    [SOLVED] Slow ZFS performance

Hi, this post is part a solution and part of question to developers/community. We have some small servers with ZFS. Setup is simple, 2 SSDs with ZFS mirror for OS and VM data. zpool status pool: rpool state: ONLINE scan: scrub repaired 0B in 3h58m with 0 errors on Sun Feb 10 04:22:39...

Options for two-node cluster for PVE 5

But I still can create 2-node cluster just without HA, so I can migrate VMs to another host for e.g. kernel upgrades, right? Thanks for the link btw.

Options for two-node cluster for PVE 5

Hello, with proxmox 3.x it was possible to have two-node cluster using DRBD, since 4.x two-node HA is not possible and DRBD isn't supported anymore. I think storage replication with ZFS can replace DRBD somehow, testing this right now, but what is the status with HA? I saw on forum, that...

3-node Cluster with Ceph, sanity check?

first of all, please post it to ceph's mailing list too, http://lists.ceph.com/listinfo.cgi/ceph-users-ceph.com/ you will get much greater response. - not sure about performance, but 3/2 is default these days and it's not coincidence, 3/1 is not recommended anymore. - 6 OSDs with SSD are...

    Proxmox VE 5.0 released!

Regarding ceph upgrade notes, it's only matters if I use ceph on proxmox node, isn't it? If I use own ceph cluster on separate nodes (11.2 "kraken") I can upgrade to 5 without problems, right?

    Broken cluster of 8 nodes

hi spirit, this is how we restarted the whole cluster, with only difference that we started cman on each node after pve-cluster was restarted, otherwise corosync will not be running, I think. But somehow, although "pvecm nodes" show all nodes and "pvecm status" shows quorum, /etc/pve stays...

    Broken cluster of 8 nodes

Can maybe someone from developers comment how pmxfs checks, that cluster is in healthy state? Because cluster looks fine, but pmxfs is still read-only proxmox03:~# pvecm nodes Node Sts Inc Joined Name 1 M 41224 2016-09-21 17:05:47 proxmox05 2 M 41216...

Right permissions to stop VM with "fence_pve"

LnxBil, yes, I've mentioned it by "without using MITM decryption", because as far I know I need to run wireshark live on server to be able to do that (importing tcpdump dump file wil not work).

Right permissions to stop VM with "fence_pve"

Hi wbumiller, yep, regarding this bug issue it was my fault, sorry about that. However the "fence_agent" doesn't work with this user. Is there a way to debug it? Is it possible to deactivate SSL in Proxmox so I can see requests with tcpdump/wireshark (without using MITM decryption) ? Best, Stan
