    Force overwrite during file restore

I see, I searched the man pages for terms like "force" and "overwrite" but nothing came up. I will give it a try with --allow-existing-dirs' Thanks.

    Proxmox migration

I use a PBS server for that kind of thing. You can do a backup of all the running VMs to the PBS server, down one of the VMs, and do a live restore of it on the new PVE server, total downtime is about a minute as the VM boots at the start of the live restore.

    Force overwrite during file restore

The other day I had a drive problem, so I restored the VM from a 2 day old PBS backup onto another server, before I did that, I took a snapshot of /var/mail using proxmox-backup-client. When I tried to restore /var/mail it complained the files already exist and wouldn't proceed. Is there a way...

One VM won't backup to PBS (debian 11)

FreeBSD 11.4-RELESE VMs don't seem to be honoring the powerdown signals, they stop all the processes and site there. I wonder if that's why they wont backup to PBS? They will vzdump ok. In fact they won't even backup to PBS even in stop mode, the error message from: qmp command 'cont' failed -...

One VM won't backup to PBS (debian 11)

Update, ran out of ideas, so I rebooted the PVE 7.0 server and the VM is able to do backups to both PBS servers again. I has rebooted the VM several times just in case something apt updated needed it. So in the end it was the PVE 7.0 server reboot that cleared the problem. The previous...

One VM won't backup to PBS (debian 11)

I have a Proxmox 7.0-10 server that has 3 VMs running on it, 2 are FreeBSD the other is Debian 11 running mostly email. All 3 VMs were recently moved across from a 6.4.9 server to the new 7.0 server whilst the were shutdown, using ftp for the HD raw image and the .conf files, all 3 are running...

    BTRFS on a single drive

I am interested in using the new BTRFS option in the Proxmox 7 installer, on a single SSD. The installer wants me to choose a RAID level, however RAID is not something I plan to use, it's the other BTRFS features that caught my interest. Which RAID level should I choose for a single SSD setup?

relocating a datastore external drive to another PBS

Is it possible to move a USB external drive, which is currently used for a PBS datastore, from one PBS server to another? Nothing has been encrypted, it's just the PBS it is currently attached to has to be relocated to another site, so I am spinning up a fresh PBS on other hardware hoping to...

    Proxmox Backup Server 1.0 (stable)

I am a new PBS user, I have feature request to help people like me. The datastore -> content window would be useful to also display the VM Names along side the VM group number just like it shows in brackets when using PVE. I struggle to remember the function of each VM by number alone, and rely...

    Rule to block domain

Thanks, that seemed to work. A recap of the steps involved for anyone interested. I created the /etc/pmg/templates directory as the docs said to. Copied /var/lib/pmg/templates/main.cf.in to it Edited main.cf.in as follows smtpd_sender_restrictions = permit_mynetworks...

    Rule to block domain

Nowadays there are over 1,500 TLDs, I would be lucky if 50 of them were the source of legetimate emails we receive, so how do I block 1,500 TLDs I don't wish receive spam from? In sendmail I just add a single line for each TLD or domain into /etc/mail/access and make a hash db from it. eg...

    e1000 driver hang

Has anyone done a watchdog script to reboot the server when this NIC hang occurs, or does it require a power cycle?

    Proxmox 6.2 with older VMs

That link you posted describes a FreeBSD 10.1 bug, and it says the bug doesn't happen with 9.3-RELEASE. You have got me curious now, I am going to try some of the other FreeBSD installers to see which ones crash on Proxmox 6.2.4 and which work. I can update my FreeBSD 9.3-RELEASE system, but...

    Proxmox 6.2 with older VMs

I moved a FreeBSD 9.3-RELEASE vm across from a Proxmox 6.1.5 server to a fresh 6.2.4 server, just using local drive (xfs) storage for the VM and it seg faults just after the FreeBSD kernel loads on 6.2.4. It's just the FreeBSD amd64 GENERIC kernel. bootdisk: ide0 cores: 2 cpu...

    Proxmox and GlusterFS

I set up a glusterfs test on two identical Proxmox servers to try and learn a bit about it. On both servers I created a 200GB xfs formatted partition /dev/sda4 mounted on /storage and created/started the glusterfs volume also called storage. I added the storage volume using the Proxmox GUI...
