Hello, At our latest backup jobs the backups of all OpenVZ-containers failed with massive output of I/O errors in the logfiles. After investigating this i traced it down to the snapshot-volume not growing but staying at 1G size. Available space on the VG is >1TB. # lvm dumpconfig | grep...
Hello,
As i'm already struggling with systemd and/or its ugly siblings on 2 systems I was wondering if the proxmox team plans on implementing systemd with the upcoming release of debian jessie, which most likely will ship with systemd as standard.
To prepare for the worst I just set up a...
After reverting back these packages the system is working again:
pve-kernel-2.6.32-23-pve:amd64 2.6.32-109
pve-manager:amd64 3.1-3
qemu-server:amd64 3.1-1
proxmox-ve-2.6.32:all 3.1-109
pve-libspice-server1:amd64 0.12.4-1
I've take a snapshot of the system and will try to figure out which...
I updated one of our nodes today (subscription repository). The node was running kernel version 2.6.32-23-pve before, update ended without any errors or warnings.
At first reboot the system locked up after starting the first container.
After disabling any Container or VM via single-user mode...
The Test-VM I mentioned didn't had any virtio drivers installed but burned to death after running windows updates and connecting the HASP dongle via USB2.0.
Thanks for your efforts, but as far as i verified the problem it is connected to some windows updates which broke some drivers... But it...
I'm not using virtio network drivers (win 2008 lost its network on 2 out of 3 reboots with virtio net) plus all drives are connected via IDE -> problem still persistent.
Win7 / 2008 R2 is fine with USB2.0 - everything older (XP, 2008 "R1") chokes on its own interrupts when using *some* devices via USB2.0.
Interestingly a naked, unpatched install of 2008 I set up for testing did not show this behavior, but on the other day after it finally finished updating and...
I just installed a new W2K8 R2 guest to one of our Proxmox hosts, installed virtio-drivers for disk, ballooning and network and just wanted to disable the windows write-cache, but i get an error about disabling the cache is not possible for that device.
Another 2K8 R2 server is running with...
on the fly:
hdparm -W0 /dev/sdx
mount-option "sync" and "dirsync" will also bypass the write cache.
Also the guest needs to have it disabled (not only by guest options on the host system!) - on windows guests this can be achieved by enabling quick removal (e.g. on 2008 R2 you also have the...
caching should be only done by the RAID-controller (thus a BBU is essential!), not by software.
disable HDD-caches at the host and for the guest, then IO-wait and overall HDD-performance should be best.
I just recognized the invoice status at the maurer shop is still "unpaid" - maybe the transfer germany -> austria will take a few more days.
Anyhow, i can stop searching for the problem at our servers ;)
We've added the keys last week to our servers - today still 401s on both when trying to apt-get update...
Keys are both marked "active" at the web interface.
How long will PVE stay with the 2.6 kernel? Are there already "fixed" dates for a 3.2 kernel?
Not that I'm about to switch all VMs immediately to wheezy+3.2 release, but it would be nice to know if this update will come e.g. in the next 3 months or not before 2014.
The difference is USB2.0/1.1 mode.
Adding the device redirection to the conf-file enables USB2.0, while manual adding only connects as USB1.1 and prevents the usbport.sys bug to trigger (high interrupt load)
I'm having the same Problem with an HASP-Dongle and Windows 2008. USB2.0 creates...
The "red/green/orange/blue" layout of IPCop is roughly similar to the 3-way layout for shorewall.
My idea is, to get this layout virtualized:
proxmox host:
WAN LAN

I had a little discussion with a friend about setting up a firewall/gateway with visualization (no dedicated hardware for firewall!)
As I like it modular and variable, I'd set up a VM (KVM, no contianer) as firewall/gateway (shorewall), exclusively using the hardware interface connected to the...
I'm using this script:
#!/bin/sh
# VNC for VM $1 on Port 59$1
[ $(lsof -i -w | grep -c 59$1) = 0 ] && nc -l -p 59$1 -c "qm vncproxy $1"&
exit 0
softlink it to /usr/bin/vnc and you can open a VNC with the command "vnc <VMID>" on port 59<VMID>:
# vnc 104
will open a VNC for VM 104 on Port...
I'm using an openVZ container (debian) as dedicated DNS/DHCP server. The Proxmox host uses only fixed IPs for all essential configurations and also for VMs. Only network clients rely on the DHCP/DNS server.
This way your proxmox host and it's VMs will start up and run even when the DNS/DHCP...
Thanks, the syntax with "hostbus/hostport" works! :)
Also the information about USB 1.1/2.0 was quite useful as i can now bypass the windows vista/2008 usbport.sys bug (high interrupt load) which seems to be only present when using USB2.0 (at least in my case with an HASP dongle)
Same problem here... add_usb is broken since upgrade to 2.3. Filter in vm.conf works.
As we _again_ have massive problems with one Windows 2008 VM generating >1000 interrupts when using a HASP HL key I'd need to connect/disconnect USB-devices with a running VM. Currently I have to stop/start the...
