Hi all, I'm reinstalling proxMox on a PC, and simply put it freezes after a few hours staying idle. The machine I've installed it has been my desktop Windows PC for a couple of years, during which I've never seen anything like this happening. Here are the hardware specs:

Hi all, I've got a bit of a conundrum, which is more difficult to explain than it actually is. I have currently 2 servers:
Main server: Dell R710 running PrmoxMox 7.4-3, 8x 4TB drives in RAID5, total available space of 28TB. Running 2 VMs, one of which I couldn't care less; main VM has around...
Thanks for the suggestion. I've now got a GT710, it gets recognized just fine, and OpenGL programs open without any issues. I could also have gone for a Quadro K2000D which sells for £27. It seems to boil down to what driver version the GPU supports; apparently, Nvidia unlocked VM support for...
Can I ask you, is your VM running Windows or any Linux flavour? I'd you're running Windows, did you have any issues getting it to recognize it without the dreaded error 43?
I've actually remembered that I have a GT9500 at home. Quite ancient I know, but it was there already, so I'll try it following the PCI passthrough guide on the PVE website, and see if that works. If it doesn't I'll try a GT730, given the low price.
Thank you. It should be compatible through legacy drivers, but I can't find one for a decent price (not going to spend £100 on it...). I'll keep an eye for one.
Hello all, if the title seems something like a newbie would ask, it's because it is...
I'm in need to add a graphics card to my ProxMox 7.2-11 installation, so I can pass it to a Windows 10 VM. It doesn't need to be anything special, I simply need OpenGL support for a few programs running under...
That was it, hidden in plain sight. I've seen that command so many times, but it never clicked that it was exactly what I needed. I can see now that the total space for the PV is 28TB, and I can finally expand the existing LVs and/or create new ones.
Thank you so much!
Sorry, I'm getting a bb command not found error straight away, and I'm not sure what that command is supposed to be so I can't google it.
root@server:~# bb vss provision -c 16GiB --with-disk
-bash: bb: command not found
By the way, here's the vgs output:
root@server:~# vgs
VG #PV #LV #SN...
Sorry I didn't mean anything by it, I just wasn't home so couldn't run the command. Anyway, here's the output:
root@server:~# pvs
PV VG Fmt Attr PSize PFree
/dev/sda3 pve lvm2 a-- <223.07g <16.00g
/dev/sdb data lvm2 a-- 6.36t <7.00g

Thank you very much for the answer, however that's where I'm getting stuck. Those instructions basically say to expand the partition with parted, which is easy enough. However, parted does not recognize any partition on the disk (parted output in my original post), despite being able to see them...
Hi all, I've been searching for a solution for the past week and I'm still running around circles.
I'm running ProxMox 7.2-11 on a Dell T710. The server used to have 8 1GB drives in RAID5 (total space 7TB). When installing ProxMox I've created a 7TB LVM, which I then split into smaller...
Yep, can confirm the latest kernel broke mine too. Reverting back to 5.13.19-3-pve solved the issue. In the thread I've linked I posted how I did it, if anyone needs.
Open a terminal to your Proxmox server. Launch the command
grep menuentry /boot/grub/grub.cfg
and in there you'll need two things:
The first one is the id_option from the Advanced options for Proxmox VE GNU/Linux line (circled in red, number 1), the second one is the id_option for the last...
Ok, so it could have been the kernel. The update installed Linux 5.13.19-4-pve, which is when my VM broke. I've now restarted the server using Linux 5.13.19-3-pve, and the VM is up and running as if nothing happened. For now I'll remove that kernel version and mark it as not to be installed...
Hi all, quite a noob here and running Proxmox on my own home server so please bear with me.
After upgrading the Proxmox kernel this morning (via a simple apt upgrade) and rebooting, one of my 2 VM is refusing to start. From this post I've tried running a systemctl stop 100.slice command (100 is...
