Great! thank you! this is what I was looking for!!!
Couple of questions, please:
1) pvcreate and vgcreate parameters
some online tutorial suggests to add parameters to pvcreate and vgcreate, what is your opinion on that? see example below:
pvcreate --metadatasize 1024M -y -ff...
how do I do that? something like : lvcreate -l 100%FREE ?
thank i want to do is to have LVM-thin to store VM and Container, hence, once I have created the thinpool, what do I need to do?
hello people,
I have been reading quite a bit how to add a new ssd to my homelab (proxmox) and how to add it as lvm-thin storage...
I got to the following list of actions (assuming that nvme0n1 is the newly added SSD)
format the disk sgdisk -N 1 /dev/nvme0n1
create a physical volume pvcreate...
sorted! I dot know why, but after the .ISO there saw some other characters... I think this was preventing the file to be recognized as a ISO...
thank you for the tip!!!!
Hello,
reading on the web, I thought that the ISO library was in /var/lib/vz/template/iso, but when I try to create a VM, I cannot find anything under the ISO dropbox...
I have downloaded ubuntu ISO here: wget https://releases.ubuntu.com/22.04/ubuntu-22.04-desktop-amd64.iso and I have cerified...
do you mean just selecting the LVM partition and clicking "Wipe Disk"?
out of curiosity, what exactly contains in LVM? where the ISO images are stored?
luckily I am still highly testing, hence breaking everything would be ok :)
perfect, then we are aligned :)
you are right... I was overcomplicating things!
do you suggest to:
remove the local-lvm from SATA --> how do I do that? do you have any terminal commands for this?
this will leave the SATA with an empty space... how will I extend the "ISO image" space to this...
thank you, considering my "small" environment (just one node on an Intel NUC) I was thinking to give all "the ssd nvme speed" to the VMs, hence the desire to dedicate the nvme to LVM-thin....
I do not need to move any image, because I have started from scratch... what I had before to install...
Hello,
I have just added a new ssd (NVME) to my Proxmox server and I am confused on how to set this new disk as LVM-thin
Architecture/Configuration:
NUC i7
Primary Disk (where proxmox is installed): SATA 500GB
Additional Disk (Newly added): NVME 1TB
from the web-interface I have:

getting closer :)
cifsscan retrieve the correct shartes :)
the challenge now is that with the add command, it does not find "SambaQuique"... what is this???
Hello,
I need to add an SMB network drive to my Proxomox implementation, but I am failing to add it.
so far I have done the followings:
Datacenter -> Storage -> Add -> SMB/CIFS and filled in the info below:

Server: 192.168.1.145 --> this is the SMB IP address on a macbook...
hello,
I am trying to download in CT Templates the turnkey-core, but I get a network/DNS error... I am not an expert in proxmox, not in networking... anybody can suggest how to fix this error, please
so far I have:
current situation:
Network:

what I mean is that it seems that SPICE is the way to go, but xrdp provide better feature... no??? (e.g. easy access from outside LAN, persistent client (and not every time downloading a connection file that last 30 seconds etc...)
in the case of xrdp, which client would you recommend? I use...
ohhhhhh I get it now... it is for security reason, right?
