Low amount of ZFS ARC hits

Running ZFS on Proxmox 8. Everything is updated to newest packages. The ARC limit is 768 GB and arc_summary reports 99% hit ratio. However, actual total ARC access is only 350mb after 24 hours uptime on a loaded system. Any reason for such low utilization of ARC?

    Update Systemd?

I have a problem with really long nvme device names in ZFS pools causing systemd errors. The error is: Jun 05 11:44:09 maverick systemd[22172]: zd0p3: Failed to generate unit name from device path: File name too long A fix was committed to v250, but Proxmox is using v247. Current release of...

Use librbd instead of krbd for LXC?

Through extensive testing with Optane cache drives, I have been able to increase Queue 1, IO-Depth 1, 4K writes by over 4X using RBD Persistent Write Log Cache. However, krbd does not support pwl, only librbd. In addition, librbd allows tuning such as "rbd_read_from_replica_policy = localize"...

Ceph Outdated OSD's even though on 16.2.6

I have two different clusters prompting that all ODS's, monitors, managers, and MDS servers need to be updated even though they are on the newest Ceph Pacific 16.2.6.

PSA: Fingerprints will change after switching to ACME Certificates

This is relatively obvious and intuitive, but just a community reminder: If you take advantage of the new ACME letsencrypt certificates in PBS 2.0 (thank you Proxmox Devs!), your SHA fingerprint will change. You must update the fingerprint for any backup or sync jobs configured on other PBS...

Ceph Pacific constant repeating "MDSs are read only"

Testing 7 Beta with Ceph Pacific 16.2.4. The cluster keeps randomly entering "1 MDSs are read only". This issue never occurred previously under Nautilus or Octopus. The cluster is otherwise healthy. The MDS must be restarted to temporarily clear the error until it reappears hours later...

    Can't Reshard OSD's under Ceph Pacific 16.2.4

Original Post Ceph Pacific introduced new RocksDB Sharding. Attempts to reshard an OSD using Ceph Pacific on Proxmox 7.0-5 Beta results in the corruption of the OSD, requiring the OSD's deletion and a backfilling. The OSD can't be restarted or repaired after the failed reshard. I first stopped...

EFI VM's won't start under 7 Beta with Writeback Cache

Original Post Here I can't get any virtual machines to start on 7.0-5 Beta when using writeback cache with Ceph backed raw virtual disks. The console hangs before the EFI stage begins. See attached image. At the advise of @t.lamprecht, I narrowed the problem down to the cache setting. Won't...

    VM Instability and KP's

Initial Disclaimer and Apology: The Proxmox forum isn't really the place for this, but I am casting a wide net hoping anyone has any ideas. I don't believe there is anything in anyway wrong with Proxmox software or my installation at a software level. I apologize if this is long and overly...
