KVM Windows VMs and losing network connectivity

So I can reproduce this CONSTANTLY... I'm running Blue Iris on a Windows Server 2016 VM. Once half or more of my cameras connect, recent VirtIO drivers (post .141) start producing some CRAZY latency. The e1000 works perfectly but will randomly drop after backups run FROM A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT...

    CEPH Write Performance

Yes all drives have it enabled. Also my dev/sdb is an Samsung evo 850. It suddenly benchmarks at 20MB/s write. Reads at 450MB/s. All my other SSDs bench much better. Not sure why this single ssd is acting poorly. I rebalanced the pool and it's only 55% full so slc isnt maxed.

    CEPH Write Performance

Hello Guys, Single Node ceph guy again. Recently suffered a two drive failure and lost some PGs so I rebuilt my pools and restored from external backups. The restores are taking FOREVER. Testing against my SSD pool which used to perform closer to 500MB/s it's maxing out at 60MB/s. Node hosts...

    Resize OS LVM

Hello all, I made a huge mistake when I installed my proxmox storage (ceph) node. I installed the OS on those terrible slow Dell dual SD card devices. The limited size (16gb) left the OS and swap pretty tiny. I have cloned that install into two 120GB SSDs. Performance is way better and IO delay...

    CEPH Single Node High IO

Hello All, With any writes or reads running I seem to see high IO delays but low cpu usage. Currently with data copying to an SMB share on a vm on another node over 10Gbit I see 2.66% CPU usage and 46% IO delay. Is this normal? Two pools are setup. One HDD and on SSD. Both are setup correctly...

    Windows 10 Licensing

100% fact. Until there are more user friendly BUSINESS management tools like SCCM, GPOs etc which actually function, give management pretty graphs, etc Windows will remain a business leader. That being said a few of my clients (I run a tech company) are starting to see the light. The light is...

    Windows 10 Licensing

The EULA says clearly "Use in a virtualized environment. This license allows you to install only one instance of the software for use on one device, whether that device is physical or virtual. If you want to use the software on more than one virtual device, you must obtain a separate license...

[SOLVED] ceph clock skew issue - no way out?

I had the same problem on my cluster for a few hours. My firewall was blocking 123 as I place all my servers in a management subnet with minimal access to the internet. Honestly I used the default time server, updated the time and the issue was resolved.

    CEPH SSD Pool

Naturally! I'm currently testing. I was running a pure ZFS three way mirror but I finally got a decent system with enough removable drive caddies to give this a test run. This might sound strange but I love how the hashing makes all the drive activity lights blink. Anyways, I backup all data...

    CEPH SSD Pool

Never mind I found my mistake: "step chooseleaf firstn 0 type host" should be " step choose firstn 0 type osd" Sometimes you just need to see your mistake in a forum =:)

    CEPH SSD Pool

Hello, I've been testing ceph in my dev cluster for a bit now and I've finally added a few SSDs. I edited the CRUSH map to force the default replicated rule to use HDD. I created a new SSD rule for type SSD and created a new pool. If I write any data to the pool I instantly get a health...

Backup failed, inodes still in use

Backed up my backups (lol) and created a new filesystem for the disk to resolve. Not sure why but my disk was formatted with exfat which isn't really a good choice.

Backup failed, inodes still in use

File system version 1.0 Sector size 512 bytes Cluster size 2 MB Volume size 7452 GB Used space 7450 GB Available space 2138 MB Totally 9 directories and 32 files. The mount doesn't add up to this at all... DU...

Backup failed, inodes still in use

Hello, I have a large raw disk I backup to a usb disk mounted. The backup failed as I hadn't cleaned up the old backup first which tends to happen a few times a month. The failure happens when the disk runs out of space. Typically once it fails the used temp space is cleaned up and the inodes...

Well that was quick. Loaded the module and it seems to have worked instantly. I hope its not too buggy.

    Realtek r8111/8168

Hello Everyone, I had this NIC working in the past. Was working fine until I upgraded to 5.2 from 5.1. After the kernel updated to 4.15.17-2-pve my system failed to boot. I had to comment out the r8168 module in order to get the system boot outside of emergency mode. I'd like this card...
