[SOLVED] processor type KVM64 or specific?

Thx, that's usefull.. Just experimented with a CPU-ID tool and indeed, the more modern flags are exposed when using the correct CPU, whereas KVM64 has an old instruction set exposed.

[SOLVED] 4 or 5 storage nodes?

Hi, for my company i'm proposing a PVE cluster-setup and move away from VMware (cost-decision). My goal is to make a full-flash (24 bay) setup with 4 storage (incl compute) nodes (for Linux-vm's) and 2 compute nodes (windows-datacenter) totals 6. It will host around 200-250 VM's. I've found a...

[SOLVED] processor type KVM64 or specific?

Hi, when creating a VM, it is possible to define KVM64 (default) or a specific CPU instruction. When all hosts are equal, is it best to select the specific type of CPU to use that specific CPU's features? Regards, Martijn

Memory over-usage protection or disable ballooning?

Hi, i've been experimenting with an older test setup cluster before i make the move from VMware. I noticed when stressing a host with memory hungry VM's that: -Starting a 2nd VM that exceeds free MEM on the host makes the host crash and reboot (did that on purpose) -Using ballooning, linux...

    [SOLVED] Snapshot overview

Allright, sounds relaxing enough. The question was based on an experience i've come across when using VMFS and "open/running" snapshots were forgotten and kept growing till the datastore became filled and beacme read-only. All VM's came to a stop at that point...

    [SOLVED] Snapshot overview

Hi, I'm moving away from vmware to proxmox, so i have build a TST-setup with CEPH to gather some info before doing this... With VMware, it was advised to keep open snapshot at a minimum. The danger of snapshots is storage-corruption when they grow too big. Is there an easy way to find...

Configuring Proxmox VE 4 as an iSCSI target

On this (SCST) page i saw that proxmox has some sort of connection for the framework so i was hoping to apt-get install it. To compile it yourself you need a subscription on proxmox? Would be nice to see this in the default distribution-set (with those FC binaries)

    Adding MD0 to LVM

Thanks Dietmar, i was already afraid of spending money. I tried to avoid the step... I've searched the forum and found people using the adaptec but this is way out of my budget. Saw a second hand: SAS RAID 5 Controller Perc 5/i PCIe x8 for €180 LSI Logic MegaRaid 8208ELP 8-Port PCIe x4...

    Adding MD0 to LVM

Hello, can somebody advise me how to add a MD0 (Mirrored SDB + SDC) to the LVM? I can add a single disk and succesfully boot but when i add the mirrored SDB+SDC then the system panics at boot saying there's a "bad newroot". What i want to achieve is: Install on SDA (8GB solid state)...
