Hello,
I have configured a kind of network backbone for my 4 node cluster to enable a faster networking between all VMs.
I was able to set this up via static ip addresses but this needs to be carefully configured to prevent ip conflicts.
Here is what I have as an example for one node:
The...
Thanks for the answer.
Interesting question.
I now tested with
USB Mouse
USB Keyboard
USB to UART
All are working fine and can be passed trough multiple times without rebooting.
Maybe the combination with the Wifi Stick and the usb controller lead to troubles?
Hi,
I have several proxmox nodes that are working well.
I am using a Wifi USB Stick to temorary passthrough to defined VMs for installing updates over the internet. This concept works also quite well for me.
However, lately I took an old Fujitsu Siemens Machine, also with Proxmox to be used...
Hello,
I know, there are other threads and I tried their solutions but no help.
So I create a thread on my own in the hope of having some other potential solutions.
I have the following config.
Two nodes configured in a cluster.
LAN network without internet access. (time was set manually)
PVE...
I set /dev/sdf to "retired", rebuild my storage pool and removed it.
now the shutdown takes only seconds.
Thanks a lot for the help.
~# journalctl -b 0 -p 3 was the solution
I just double checked:
I am able to access the share from the PVE console
/mnt/pve/FileSrv-CIFS/images/1015
I can create and remove files in there.
And the same network configuration applies to an other CT where the backup is working.
Thanks Chris,
Yeah, first I thought so too but the strange thing is that I am able to access the share without any problem.
I am even able to boot the CT with the image on the share.
But I can't copy it to the local drive and I can't make a backup.
Not sure where to start.
It runs on my new refurbed HPE DL380 Gen9.
Hope you can help. Or maybe it is just normal on server HW?
But from the outputs with these timeouts and watchdogs it is kind of strange.
Thanks.
Hello,
For no apparent reason, one of my CTs can no longer be backed up. I tried it on “local” and on a network drive. In both cases the same problem:
The backup process gets stuck at the following step.
creating vzdump archive '/var/lib/vz/dump/vzdump-lxc-1015-2024_02_04-20_25_30.tar.zst'
All...
Thanks a lot for your help!
I renamed /var/lib/pve-cluster/config.db-wal and PVE GUI was booting again. Nice.
As you have seen... VM 1003 seems to be broken.
I tried to run a backup but it fails at 10%. I guess this VM needs to be thrown in the can.
backup restore is currently not that option...
So I guess it's just about 3 files that are corrupted and the config.db-wal seems to be the only one that is critical.
Any chance to reset it to the defaults and get the image data?

Hi,
As described in an other post, I had a crash with my Proxmox server and several VMs.
I still have a drive of one of my windows machines, which I used as CIFS/SMB share in Proxmox. There I created my Proxmox backups.
Now I reinstalled Proxmox and mounted the CIFS share on the new setup but...
Here some additional information about the failed pool:

Thanks for your reply.
That sounds really bad. Seems that my VM settings are lost.
However, more important:
Is it possible to copy the VM images/data?
I took another SSD and now installed a fresh proxmox on it. My naive thinking was that I should be able to connect all drives, boot from the...
Hi,
While setting up my new/old server I have managed to crash my whole proxmox setup. I don't know why but I had the inglorious idea to setup the system disk as ZFS RAID0. While having HW troubles I had to reboot several times and I also had to kill the system in some cases. I don't know the...
oh how embarrassing, I should have known better:
Of course it wasn't the hardware but I configured something stupid in Proxmox.
Here for those who might run in the same problem.
My assumption was that the system was using GRUB. Instead, Proxmox uses System.d on my DL380 with ZFS.
I had to...
