Windows Server 2019 VM keeps locking up after starting.

Not sure exactly what was happening. I was about to backup everything and reinstally Proxmox OS again and reload my VMs. It seems like I had a couple USB drives that were loaded in the Windows Server 2019 VM that was causing a lockup of the VM. The whole OS on the VM became inaccessible shortly...

Windows Server 2019 VM keeps locking up after starting.

When I start up my Windows Server 2019 VM, it locks up and VNC Proxy, or RDP become inaccessible a few minutes after it is loaded. I am trying to fiddle with settings to fix this. Somehow this may be related to Virtio drivers or PBS backup. It started going weird when I tried to backup to PBS...

[SOLVED] Certain VMs from a cluster cannot be backed up and managed

Is this resolved? Seems like I get this issue with one of my 2 nodes. The Windows 2019 Standard seems to be getting this issue ever since I tried to back it up to PVE Backup Server. My other node with Windows 2016 Essentials doesn't have this behaviour...

ERROR: PBS backups are not supported by the running QEMU version. Please make sure you've installed the latest version and the VM has been restarted.

@t.lamprecht I did't get a QEMU Version warning, but I uinstalled the Qemu Agent from the OS and Disabled the Qemu Guest Agent in the VM Options. I will try installing it. However to think of it, I don't remember specifically installing it on any of my VMs before. I would use the virtio drivers...

ERROR: PBS backups are not supported by the running QEMU version. Please make sure you've installed the latest version and the VM has been restarted.

To clarify, stop and start the VM using either the command lin shell or the web GUI, but not through the OS? I've done that several times already. I have uninstalled the Qemu Agent, but still have it enabled through the Proxmox options to replicate my other Windows 2016 Essentials VM. So far the...

ERROR: PBS backups are not supported by the running QEMU version. Please make sure you've installed the latest version and the VM has been restarted.

Thank you so much @tom I've tried that several times. Thing is that it gets and error and then the VM gets locked up. The VM is running, but the OS obviously is not and I have to stop it manually and restart. I followed this https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Qemu-guest-agent I'm wondering. Is this...

Adding Storage and managing Datastore Locations

I know this is a novice question, but is rsync installed by default? or I need to install it? Are there disadvantages to using cp -R ? I know rsync is faster and does more checking and works local and remote and so on. I'll look into it. Thank you.

[SOLVED] Problem with QEMU Agent and Windows 2019 Server

I'm wondering. Is this Qemu Agent necessary? I have two VM Servers running. Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2016 Essentials. The WIndows 2019 was backing up okay using the new PVE PBS Beta version. On the other hand, the Windows 2016 Essentials kept getting an error. ERROR: PBS backups...

Adding Storage and managing Datastore Locations

There is probably a better method or more acceptable, but I tried cp -r /107 from /backup/disk2/vm/107 to the /backup/disk1/ and I added and tried restoring. I got an error and realized there was chunks of data was missing. I then cp -R /backup/disk2/.chunks/ to the new location and restored...

Adding Storage and managing Datastore Locations

You mentioned making a larger zpool and then moving the directory for the datasatore to the new pool. I am quite new. How did you do that? For example, I just added another disk where I want to store my backups. For now store1 is on /backup/disk1 but I created a new store on /backup/disk2 which...

Adding Storage and managing Datastore Locations

Just wondering if you can move from one store to another? For example, I tried the backup server out and it was one large drive at first, but I want to add more drives. Can I transfer the data from lets say store1 on the main installation to store2 which is on a separate drive? Thanks.

Adding Storage and managing Datastore Locations

Hello everybody, Is it difficult to add storage and move the data store locations? Is it as simple as adding storage and changing the data store mount location or moving it over? Is there documentation or online tutorials for this? If this is going to be a backup server, managing storage and...
