Hi guys,
We are running Intel servers with server boards (Intel S2600WTTR) that have a RAID plugin card (Intel RMS3HC080). Currently running in HW RAID 10.
On top of that we are currently running ZFS in RAID0 ('one disk'). However, I suspect some locking issues and I want to reinstall one of...
I have a LSI hardware RAID10 and on top of that ZFS, only because I needed it for replication. ZFS is the only filesystem the enables replication in Proxmox, correct?
The array locked up once, butmade some changes and now it seems ok. Fsyncs > 5500. But write speeds are not very very high.
I'm...
I solved this one:
My added settings in the datacenter.cfg don't get applied. I restarted the pve-cluster service on both nodes, don't get any parser errors in the syslogs on node 1 but it seems it throws and error on node 2:
keyboard: en-us
migration: type=insecure, network=192.168.155.0/24...
Aha, I missed that somehow. I was expecting he would choose the Ring0 as default route.
But wouldn't it be better to have the Ring0 on a NIC without (heavy) traffic?
So:
NIC1 Use for GUI / SSH Purposes (and maybe use as Ring1?)
NIC2 Use for LAN traffic to the VM's
NIC3 Use for...
I'm puzzled at this moment. I'm doing some tests now with replication.
I've specified the IP address (192.168.155.1) of NIC2 as Ring0
The other node joined the cluster with 192.168.155.2 as Ring0 IP
Both IP addresses are bound to a 10GBe NIC adapter.
I start a replication and all data goes...
I have a 2 node cluster and I've replicated a VM from node A to node B.
I was expecting that the VM information itself would be replicated too. I'm used to that in my old Hyper-V solution. However it seems that only the disk is replicated and not the VM information?
I can see the replicated...
You did this to limit maximum memory usage, right?
Wouldn't it work to limit the 'vm.dirty_ratio' option? Because that is the maximum percentage of memory your system may use before flushing it to disk.
On our Node it has been limited to 20%. I see nice flushes every time he uses 20% of our...
So if I want the convenience of the GUI, I need to setup the cluster and in case of (temporary) down time of one node use 'pvecm expected 1' to be sure backupping still works.
Or I need to forget the cluster and work with the pve-zsync commandline.
Correct?
No problem. The VM's of node 1 will stay online, don't worry.
But be sure to have all the prerequisites when you start a cluster and not like I did. I used lvm-thin on both nodes, but that was useless for me. As lvm-thin doesn't support replication for example :D
We have a solution with 2 nodes in a cluster. We won't use HA, we only want to use the replication feature, just to copy VM's to each other to make our solution redundant in a way.
We used this also in our old Hyper-V environment, but in Hyper-V we didn't need to setup a cluster. I was just...
For future readers, please try this first, It can save you alot of time:
https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/how-to-fix-non-booting-linux-vm-imported-from-a-gen2-vm-hyper-v-source.45070/
The problem
An imported Gen2 Hyper-V VM won't boot. You get an EFI Shell or you are just stuck in the boot sequence.
When you go into the UEFI BIOS (press ESC during startup of the VM) you are able to make modifications and boot from a file. This works, but you are not able to save changes...
I don't understand the ring1 recommendation on NIC2? @wolfgang
In my setup I would attach NIC2 to ring0 and according to your documentation the ring1 adapter should be physically seperated from each other?
Did you mean I have to attach ring1 to NIC1?
I'm able to add another NIC to this...
