Hi, I have a 'fun' question.
I am trying to mount NFS export to a proxmox host. They are both in 'public' (OVH) hosting so I've setup firewall rules on the NFS server to restrict access to NFS server suitably / allow access only to this client /and restrict ports used to simplify firewall...
Hi,
I wonder if anyone has experience and can comment maybe.
I've just spent some time reviewing a pair of lenovo servers, which have this HW Raid controller. 2 x identical nodes in a small proxmox cluster, proxmox 5.Latest.
There is no problem with the controller being recognized and...
Hi Guletz, thanks for the added detail. Much appreciated! I agree with your thought, ie, wrapping lizard inside LXC might add some delays due to 'added time for container startup' which makes me feel a bit uneasy about that approach. I think what might work most simply, is to run Lizard right...
Hi Alwin, I've done testing (2+ years ago) FYI and I had zero problems with Proxmox cluster on OVH dedicated hardware with the Vrack solution. I encourage you to read a bit about Vrack at OVH maybe before speculating further. (They do have fair bit of info on their website / Docs / FAQs / etc.)...
Hi guletz, many thanks for your feedback! If I understand correctly, you are using Lizard FS as a "VM storage" primary datastore for Proxmox, and it is working well for you in terms of reliability. May I ask for clarity. (a) were you using the proxmox nodes as pure Lizard clients, or do you...
HI Alwin, I guess for clarity. The environment would have dedicated 10gig "VRack" interfaces which are capped at 3gig throughput, if I understand the current OVH offer correctly. So - I am not sure if you would believe that 3gig dedicated interface can be sufficiently low latency and high...
I agree, asking "Why HA" is important. In this case I'm asking for feedback assuming proxmox HA is on the 'required features list'. Not so much that I agree with it being on the required feature list for this project, but that the client wants the feature absolutely, and it is not negotiable...
I forgot to say / can't edit my post (?) - The storage performance requirements are not 'heavy' - this is more about 'reliable HA performance with modest IO performance'. So we may in fact be ok with gig-ether connectivity between nodes for syncing storage / not requiring faster vrack than...
Hi, I am curious to ask if anyone can comment.
I'm looking at setting up for a client, a modest sized Proxmox cluster. It will be running on OVH hosted environment, ie, we have access to various pre-configured server builds and my goal is to get a config which optimizes (monthly spend, features...
Hi Alwin, thanks for the info. It wasn't clear to me how the 'size' info is reported when disks are attached in this view. I sort-of guessed it must be a semi-active process / because I know (for example) if you manually swap out one Virtual disk file for another "under the hood" (ie, via CLI...
Hi, I am not sure where to submit a request like this so thought I would post it here. I hope that OK.
This is I think a minor GUI tweak, maybe might be considered of use/good?
Right now in web GUI for 'hardware' on a KVM Virtual Machine,
hard drive size is shown for attached hard drives
but...
Thanks very much for this info. That looks pretty straight forward to try. If I end up getting this machine / doing this setup for the client (project is not a 'go' yet) - I will followup on this thread to confirm how this worked. Worst case I will just buy a suitable Win10Pro license after...
Footnote, with your keywords and a bit of google digging, I located this thread,
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2011-03/msg03080.html
and I think I start to see why this is an exercise in "not quite futility, but only for the enthusiast'
ie, much simpler to just purchase a...
Thanks for the reply. If you can point me to any hints on how to do the SLIC Table pass through from physical to virtual, that would be great. I am slightly confused how such a process can be time intensive (a few config stanzas for pass through in the KVM VM Config file most likely? But maybe...
Hi, a 'fun' question I wonder if anyone has experience with.
I'm setting up a small 'lenovo mid-level workstation' as a small on-prem server for a client. They need 2 x small VMs, one will be a linux ClearOS "NAS Fileserver" and the second will be Win10Pro for running Sage Simply Accounting...
Thanks very much for this feedback. Sounds like - things are managing themselves smoothly / and this is default-expected behaviour / not of concern. So that is good news.
Many thanks,
Tim
Hi,
I've got a Proxmox host running (OVH "template deployed stock proxmox latest" (currently is displaying in webUI, Virtual Environment 5.2-7) - it has 8 HT Xeon cores / 32gb ram / pair of 2x2Tb Sata drives in SWRaid1. Pretty typical OVH box.
I have about a dozen LXC based VMs running, and...
Oh what fun, I was digging into this some more, and figured I should post my reply here, in case I will make the same mistake in a year or so after losing my brain again / or possibly someone else in similar boat will find the hint and take a look.
It appears that restore the 5 x VMs running...
