    Copilot+ VM

Copilot+ requires a NPU, maybe a gpu passthrough will work but im not sure. I dont see any copilot+ features either even on my native 13th gen notebook with 24h2 (2033)

[SOLVED] [iperf3 speed] Same Node vs 2 Nodes (Found a Bug)

Just readed again your link: You mean the second post from ryang? With: numa0: cpus=0-13,hostnodes=0,memory=30720,policy=bind numa1: cpus=14-27,hostnodes=1,memory=30720,policy=bind Thats new lol, i have to try it, thanks for the heading! If that will work then it will be finally amazing, but...

[SOLVED] [iperf3 speed] Same Node vs 2 Nodes (Found a Bug)

We had this discussion already, enabling numa should bind all the "cores" (threads) of a VM to the same Numa-Node. As long as it's not the case, Numa is almost pointless. The Actual behaviour still spreads all the Cores of a Single VM to all possible physical cores Randomly without taking...

Why Does ZFS Hate my Server

The sata write cache depends... Its a very hard topic, it can be completely pointless nowadays or neccessary. HDDS: Zfs does own queues with the zfs io scheduler. So yes zfs will usually disable any sort of caching anyway. NVME's: Things changes with modern zfs versions for nvme's, because...

Why Does ZFS Hate my Server

Thats irritating, FSYNCS/SECOND is pretty good, almost amazing. Indicating of good drives for "rpool/ROOT/pve-1" thats very weird then. Without knowing, its almost looking like some sort of controller with memory caching.... If yes then thats the culprint.

Why Does ZFS Hate my Server

When that LBA section isnt shown, your drive doesnt support other sizes. As far i know it shows up only on some SAS HDDs and almost all nvme drives. But i added that for the sake of completeness. Tbh take in mind that even with my optimizations, zfs is slower as any other filesystem. And well...

Why Does ZFS Hate my Server

First, ZFS is a LOT Slower as Ext4 or anything else. So when i need rally fast storage, i prefer lvm. Second, it depends what the usecase is, some tunings that i use that are independend from the usecase and independent from drives (HDD/Nvme) are: xattr=sa atime=off (dont use this only for PBS...

AMD pstate Behavior on Epyc Rome

It has nothing todo with the pstate driver. However i think both does the same job, but for the sake of it i would take the deb12u1 one, because its from the debian guys and gut already an update? or sth. To be honest, im pretty sure both are the same just different packaged. Cheers

    Serial Terminal (VM/Qemu)

Thanks for the explanation. Yeah i do serial connections with switches and i have sometimes the same issues there xD I just hoped that anyone knows maybe something like another emular type that we can set on the vm, to improve things a little. Something in this direction at least. But i didn't...

    Serial Terminal (VM/Qemu)

Hi everybody. Does anyone has maybe some fixes Tipps for the Serial Terminal for VM's (Qemu), like Ubuntu/Debian etc? Because: -> Serial Terminal on LXC Containers is pretty perfect, you can resize windows etc, everything is perfect... -> Serial Terminal on VM's is horrible, you can resize...

    Fedora's VirtIO website

https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/CHANGELOG They did in the past some sort of changelog, but lately there is none. All you can do is collecting yourself a changelog based on Commets and Tags from the github repository: https://github.com/virtio-win/kvm-guest-drivers-windows Bit...

[SOLVED] [iperf3 speed] Same Node vs 2 Nodes (Found a Bug)

Sorry i didn't had time to Reply on the Docker Thread xD But now i do. This may not be really correct what i said in this thread, because that was the time i just learned about Numa etc... And at that time, i didn't knew that Numa isn't working Correctly. It was just the beginning. There where...

[SOLVED] [iperf3 speed] Same Node vs 2 Nodes (Found a Bug)

Thats correct. But that info was still good. Between 2 nodes, i would need a 100gb Connection, that i dont have to test properly. Just 2x 25g

    Docker support in Proxmox

In the context of NUMA (Non-Uniform Memory Access) configurations, it's crucial to understand that the significance extends beyond just memory; the L3 cache plays a pivotal role. On Genoa platforms, L3 caches are distributed across NUMA nodes, with each cache supporting eight threads. This...

    Docker support in Proxmox

This is exactly what we want: If you enable this feature, your system will try to arrange the resources such that a VM does have all its vCPUs on the same physical socket Socket = Numa-Node The issue is, that this doesnt work at all. Not even a bit. And its absolutely critical on Single-Socket...

Linux Samba server or LXC Container?

Read what @Dunuin said. My preferred way tbh is to use LXC-Containers and Passthrough a ZFS Folder (dataset) from the Host to the Container. Those datasets which i passthrough, have all Hourly ZFS-Snapshots and are only exclusively for the Samba Shares. And Samba has VSS enabled or defined, so...

    ProxmoxVE will change LICENCE?

Which nag-screen? xD Do anyone here really still "realize" that there is a Nag-Screen and removes it? xD Edit: I think Proxmox has the most unobtrusive Nag-Screen or Ads etc, that i've ever seen. Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF9QYLOFZyE xD

    Docker support in Proxmox

I think tbh, that we will regret it. Docker has Compared to LXC Containers a huge amount of Options/Features and i don't believe that we will get anything usefull in the GUI, so we will still prefer the CLI. I mean we still don't even have Numa Support, which makes Proxmox mostly useless on...

    Network connections sfp + 10gbe

I had never issues with intel Cards, i had issues with multiple Mellanox ConnectX 4-LX Cards, that have issues with vlan's. Actually all Mellanox ConnectX 4-LX Cards in the OCP Formfactor, while the normal PCIe formfactor had no issues. But im avoiding all of them. Generally i do prefer...
