Would anyone know from where I can get information on the changelogs of the VirIO drivers.

They did in the past some sort of changelog, but lately there is none.
All you can do is collecting yourself a changelog based on Commets and Tags from the github repository:

I agree with you 100%.

Pity because if there is a cockup in the code one could trace it back.

Case in point: after upgrading virtio, Proxmox started crashing for me (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/x...577-took-a-split-lock-trap-at-address.153568/). I don't know whether this is related to Virtio but that is the only action I did.

A changelog would have definitely helped.
