Hey a few questions about backups and snapshots...
1) Is it possible to get the backup process (for OpenVZ containers) to backup plain files without tar or gzip and perhaps do this via rsync so it only copies what has changed. This would certainly be a worthy option to include host-side as it...
OK my understanding has improved alot...
However venet can't go straight to the Internet any more than veth can on my set up, as the host itself is behind the firewall that is only reachable via veth.
When selecting venet mode I don't want eth0 showing guest side using ifconfig -a
And it...
OK so is eth0 and veth0 the same thing... it's just named eth0 inside the container?
As for venet0, I'd prefer it to not show if you've chosen to not use it on a particular container... not disable it globally.
Can you confirm there isn't any harm in using venet0 even if bridged mode is on and...
Sorry yes, for every instance I have mentioned veth0 I have actually meant venet0 that you can see when running this inside the guest...
ifconfig -aBut I'm questioning why it is there when the container is on bridged mode, so you should just see eth0 not both...
p.s. I will update my original...
Hi bougui,
Thanks for your information, was hoping when you said "I had to change the memory settings in Zimbra." you meant that it was solely the memory settings of Zimbra inside the container only. If I leave the container with defaults (on say 1GB memory and 1.8GB swap as documented above)...
Hey,
I run the Untangle firewall as a Kernel-based Virtual Machine with two virtual NIC's, it's LAN side interface eth0 is connected to vmbr0 and it's WAN side eth1 to vmbr1. In turn vmbr0 is connected to the hosts physical eth0 port to other LAN side physical equipment and vmbr1 is connected...
Hey,
Just a quicky... if I shutdown a server (say using shutdown -h now or halt) then the status of that container turns into "mounted". If I restart it (using shutdown -r now or reboot) then the exact same happens and it doesn't come back unless I go in to the Proxmox VE GUI and start it back...
Hey,
I like to use a minimal install of Debian 5.0 i386/amd64 when creating servers. So if I was installing on a KVM or physical machine I'd normally use the netinst ISO and when tasksel appears during installation I untick "Desktop environment" and also "Standard system" leaving no package...
In short what I am asking is... has anyone managed to install Zimbra inside an unaltered OpenVZ container (i.e. no tweaking of values) that didn't have a silly amount of memory...
If yes... What exactly did you alter in Zimbra?
OK well I get the theory of ensuring Java doesn't calculate it's total heap size based on (what the Proxmox VE GUI sees as) swap. What I've done is make a KVM machine with 1GB RAM, debian gave it 1.8GB swap automatically... and true enough when installed Java is launched with 401MB (makes sense...
I'm not convinced that --swappages will solve this issue, it was just something I read in another thread. So ignore I said anything about it, unless you're sure it is the one and only fix I need for this problem and can say why it is so.
I still need some input on this issue.
Hey,
I've read loads of threads on this forum and on the Zimbra forum about getting it working on OpenVZ or Virtuozzo... this is NOT going to be another one of those threads. However I am going to use Zimbra as an example of the scenario I'm trying to a) understand and b) solve.
When you make...
Hi,
I have a little MacMini laying about that I've successfully installed Proxmox VE on. Previous to that it ran Ubuntu 8.10 and I managed to compile a version of KVM that included support for running Mac OS X virtually (I only barely need it, wanted my full disk allotted to Ubuntu).
So...
This is great, so in the mean time is there a way I can tweak login.pl or this nrd/LOGIN thing to check against a different username? I've seen what to change for making the change of password work in system/admin.htm
Hey,
As a rule of thumb on any server, even if it's local only, even if there's no ports opened to it... I always make myself another user and add it to the sudoers and disable root like this...
passwd -d -l root
Unfortunately if you remove the password from root, or lock root, or both (like...
