what could be a good parttern for hardening proxmox and setup the network ?

so i guess it won't be as fast as it could be but I came to the design below with the current hardware. Any last feedback/hint is appreciate as I am still unsure which performances i sjhould expect from such config. This afternoon promised to be interresting :) hardware, each nodes has the...

    zfs on 1 volume ?

for people that eventually came to this topic, what I did to attach the new disk was the following (based on this thread): replicate the current disk to the new disk: sgdisk --replicate=/dev/<device B> /dev/<device A> create a random uid sgdisk --randomize-guids /dev/<device B> install...

    zfs on 1 volume ?

Due to some order issues I only received one of the main disk for the system (M2 NVME) and i would like to start the setup. Is this possible to set it as zfs0 and then come back later? What coul dbe an issue?

what could be a good parttern for hardening proxmox and setup the network ?

unfortunately the second pcie is used by the nvme disks... maybe I should have took 2 other disks instead :/ right now so i have2 10g ports. I can dedicate 1 for the storage. But now I’m unsure of what could be the best setup between the nas or using ceph.. I guess i will have to benchmark.

what could be a good parttern for hardening proxmox and setup the network ?

unfortunately the nas has only 1 10GB port ... i can do the fallback on 1G, i will buy another 10G switch to ensure redundancy. it's a little too late to add 25GB I will think about it on the next upgrade :) For the HDs they are reasonably good, each nodes have 2 Samsung SSD PM883 960 GB...

what could be a good parttern for hardening proxmox and setup the network ?

by redundant network you mean a second switch? i guess i could do that. i was also thinking to use ceph for most vms instead of only relying on nas.

what could be a good parttern for hardening proxmox and setup the network ?

Right I was unclear. The setup is the following: * each proxmox nodes has 2 10Gbit ports, * All proxmox nodes are connected to a 10GBit switch * Storage has 1 10GB port connected to the switch, and 2 1GB ports connected to another switch. This switch itself is connected to to the 10Gbit switch...

what could be a good parttern for hardening proxmox and setup the network ?

I am looking for somt guidance to make my installation of proxmox more "secure" and resilient . I have a cluster of 3 machines with each 2 10G ports. Storage is managed via a NAS connected through a 10 GB port (it also has 2 1GB port) All the machines are connected to a 10G switch I have...

So it's all my network. And the office connection and proxmox are managed internally. What I'm trying to achieve is to ensure is that machine connection to the proxmox cluster via internet will not be able to reach the office network. the office network is connected via its own fiber to the core...

    how to secure proxmox installation

@tburger whel it is a dual firewall setup . the core router manage the borders. the DMZ is behind it, and the office office gateway (UDM Pro from ubiquiti) is connected to border router like it could be connected to an ISP. While in the DMZ i plan to use the proxmox firewall for the proxmox...

Hi all, So I have a proxmox cluster at home and I would like to make its installation more secure. I put the proxmox cluster in a DMZ, and have the Office network behind another firewall using NAT. What would be the best way to allow the access to the proxmox cluster resources securely and only...

    remote proxmox as a failover?

@aaron interresting. Though it quill requires some action to put it back. Is there a way to replicate it to another remote node so it can be used immediately?

    remote proxmox as a failover?

I would like to make my system more resilient and I wonder if it's possible to have instances of proxmox replicated between 2 nodes in different network: one on the lan, the other somewhere else on the net. Should I create a standalone cluster? What are the good practices for it?

how to get onduler events to shutdown cleanly?

I have an APC PSU plugged on which I plugged a synology NAS and 2 proxmox servers. Using a USB connection to the pSU , the Synology NAS is it is able to cleanly shutdown when the battery is running out. Which is fine, but the servers running proxmox will crash. The Synology NAS can start an...
