speedup gc or manually start prune and gc job

Hello! My gc job is taking really long. I started the prune job on 6th of February (took less than 1 day) and started gc job on 7th of feb. Now the gc is at 50% (on phase1). I'm still on 1.0.6 (because on February 1.0.8 wasn't released) . Is there a way to speedup this job? My storage is...

Switch Datastore from CIFS to NFS

PS: since I switched from CIFS to NFS all GUI-data (like "show me that's in content" or in the summary of the datastore) is much faster. Using CIFS it took 1-3 sec until all data got displayed. Now using NFS the data is displayed <1sec.

Switch Datastore from CIFS to NFS

Hello! I was testing the performance of PBS backups over the network a few weeks ago using CIFS. Somewhere here on the forum I found a quite useful thread with which I got cifs to working. (Mount cifs share somewhere in /mnt using fstab and create a datastore with the cli). I wasn't happy...

[SOLVED] Slow Backup-Speed - find the Bottleneck

Thanks cookiefamily and UdoB for your tips! That was the problem - I started the fio-benchmark again with the following paramters: fio --ioengine=libaio --direct=1 --name=test --filename=test --bs=4m --iodepth=64 --size=128G --readwrite=write In that case the performance is: Bandwidth between...

[SOLVED] Slow Backup-Speed - find the Bottleneck

I'm not quite sure if I've done the benchmark the right way - if not please feel free to correct me. I've done one test with fio with the filesize of 10M and another one with 4M. root@srv-v-backup:/mnt/[datastore]/benchmark_test# fio --rw=write --name=test --size=10M --filename=file1 test...

[SOLVED] Slow Backup-Speed - find the Bottleneck

Thanks @Cookiefamily for that advice - AES-flag is set. Without the AES-flag the encryption speed was around ~120MB/s. I'll start an benchmark of the mounted CIFS-Share and will provided that bit of information as fast as the benchmark is done.

[SOLVED] Slow Backup-Speed - find the Bottleneck

Hello Proxmox-Comunity! We are testing the PBS for (maybe) our next backup solution of PVE. Currently PBS is virtualized on the PVE-Cluster. The Datastore is an external Cifs Share (for now). The whole Cluster is connected with 20GBit to the CIFS-Share and between the nodes. When benchmarking...

    Clustering PBS for scaling possibilities

Hello Proxmox-Community! I've read the Wiki of PBS as well as the Roadmap and the Documentation available online - But sadly I wasn't able to figure that out. There is one major question which comes in my mind. If I have 10+ PVE Servers with 300+ VMs (incl. LXCs) is there a way to scale the...

    2FA improvement

Hello community - hello proxox-team! I'm currently playing around with the two factor implementation of Proxmox (also in the latest version as of today: 6.2-9). In my opinion 2fa is a must-have if there is a possibility that someone you don't know could be able to access the web-gui. As an...

    Permission management at pool-level

Ohh that's nice! Thanks for that - haven thought that way. One additional question -which I guess isn't implemented (yet): Is there a way to define like: the pool "controlling" is allowed to have 50 CPU cores. So I can give a controlling-team-member the right to change the cpu but to limit it...

    Permission management at pool-level

Hello! I have a question referred to the permission of certain users to manage one pool (which I want to let him manage). I want to give a certain user the rights to manage a pool. For example: The Controlling-Guy which is familiar with the proxmox-gui should be able to resize the disk of one...

    [SOLVED] GPU Passthrough (windows problems)

Hello! Thanks you for the hint to change display settings to none. Sadly I've tried it already getting the same error message (code 43) - so I enabled it again because of comfort reasons (the pve-console is really nice and easy/fast to use). Aside from the bad news above I have really good...
