Proposed Topology

Hi,

We’re moving from VMware to Proxmox and are currently building a small POC cluster. I’d like to check whether the proposed network design is suitable:

  • 2 x 1Gb NICs per host in active/standby, dedicated to Proxmox management/GUI.
  • 2 x 10Gb NICs per host using LACP for VM and Corosync traffic.
  • 10Gb LACP bond configured as an 802.1Q trunk with separate VLANs.
  • Dedicated non-routed VLAN for Corosync, providing Layer 2 connectivity between all cluster nodes.
  • Physical links distributed across a two-switch stack for resilience.
  • 10Gb switches support ISSU, allowing one switch to remain available during planned maintenance.
Is there anything fundamentally wrong with this design, particularly running Corosync over a dedicated VLAN on the same 10Gb LACP bond as the VM networks?

Ahhh nice,

so if i enable lacp rate fast on the host and switch that should help with the bond, but i can also use the 1gb management links as a backup?

my only concern with a dedicated link is im either going to need to create two new networks/ vlans on our 1gb switches for corasync (which is possible) OR is the supported topology to link all of the hosts together using a crossover cable (though this seems messy even if all hosts have to link to each other)

does this look more sensible, please
