Safe to mix standalone and cluster nodes?

Hello,

I am currently running a 3-node Proxmox Hyper-converged cluster with Ceph storage. I'm building two standalone nodes that won't have any shared resources at all, and have no need of redundancy for the guests running on them.

I've read that you can add in multiple standalone nodes into the same cluster for ease of management. Is it safe to do the same with a cluster sharing resources and nodes not sharing resources?

I suspect it works using HA groups for the guests that need HA. Are there any concerns, gotchas or downsides with this approach?

Thank you,

Al

I have the same question. We have a 4 node cluster with shared storage. I would like to add a 5th node in another room, to host some monitoring, backup related VMs. This node could also be used as disaster recovery option, for some critical VMs, if there would be a problem with the shared storage.
