So I just installed the proxmox ISO on my Virtualbox/VMare for testing purposes, and I received this after attempting apt update:

Now, I know how to resolve this. My question is simply... why do I need to this manually? I assumed the ISO build would've already had the necessary keys included. Unless I'm missing something?

You need a Subscription to use Enterprise-Repository which is enabled by default. Without adding Subscription-Key you are not allowed to use it.
So configure for Community-Repository or buy a subscription.

Guess that makes sense, thanks! I am curious however why this wasn't asked as opt-in in the installation though.

Every time you login to PVE-Webinterface it will give a message that you have missing subscription. Should be enough to tell you that you have "to do" something, shouldn't it?

Ya, I suppose so. But it would simply raise questions in the future for other people. But I have my answer, appreciate the replies :)
