Is it possible to upgrade from 1.6 to 1.8 now that 1.9 is out?

Frankly, I want to avoid 1.9 because the kernel core was completely changed. Why that was done on a .1 release I dont understand so am looking for ways around it.

we do not maintain old versions, we only support the latest which is currently 1.9 now. so if you stay on 1.8 you will never get a fix or update as this repository (pve1.8) is frozen.

btw, 1.9 works quite well, so why so you assume it will stop working?

I have heard that the new kernel now respects CPU limit which can cause boxes to slow to a crawl or not boot. I really cant take that chance with production systems so I will have to go through full testing (especially since the entire underlying kernel patches have changed).
