Hi all, hopefully someone can help me getting my system back up and running.

I was running 1.7 and all was good. Then there was a power outage and looks like it fried my HDD.

I have backups of the BE's on a NAS.

My question is I plan on installing PVE 1.8 since it's out, and then restore the backups.

How do you go about restoring the backups?

Thanks

Hi,
with qmrestore or vzrestore.
See "man qmrestore" and "man vzrestore".

But i would first check the disk. Do you see the disk in the bios? What happens, if you boot a live-cd like grml? Can you see the disk (fdisk -l)?

im trying to install again on that disk and I can hear the head knocking... so my disk is dead...

ok, i found that the command is vzrestore <archive> <VMID> but where to I execute this command? under which directory on proxmox? or does it not matter?
