I'm looking for suggestions for a RAID card for new Proxmox servers, that:

- based on PCI-Express interface (PCIe)
- is true hardware RAID (OS sees one device through driver)
- has 4 or 8 ports
- supports NCQ
- has decent, stable kernel drivers
- is affordable (cheaper than Adaptec)

Anyone got ideas? Please share what you use!

Hi,
i have good experiences with areca raidcontroller. Very fast. The new ones use an driver which is only in new kernels... but the "normal" cards are good supported.
I can recommend the ARC 1220. For my home-computer i have an 4-port controller, but 4 ports are often not enough... i had to go for 8 port but now it's to late...

But i don't know if they are cheaper than adaptec...
