Unable to install 5.0b1

Hey!

With 4.4 my server install and works fine. Just unable to install 5 b1, Yes, Im using a disk empty.
The installer of 4.4 works, the installer of 5.0b1 stop with this error.

"Unable to initialize physical volume /dev/sda3".

that usually means that your disk is in fact not clean. you can check the install log using the debug mode of the installer, after the error occurs look at the content of the file /tmp/install.log

I've had a same problem on Samsung 750SSD,try to wipe them

Usually it is enough to wipe just a few sectors (i.e. "dd if=/dev/zero of=dev/sdx bs=512 count=10"). I would not recommend to wipe the whole SSD as this is decreasing remaining number of rewrites (which especially in case of TLC-nands is not very high anyway)...

I have the same problem.

I tried this but it still refuses to initialize the volume "/dev/sdb3".

please remove any VG and PV on that disk, and retry.

The steps I took for fixing it:

1. Boot up an Ubuntu (desktop) environment on the server
2. Open a Terminal
3. Display the name of all VG's and PV's using "pvdisplay"
   
4. Wipe all the VG's using "vgremove VGNAME"
5. Wipe all the PV's using "pvremove PVNAME"

Everything is up and running now ^^
