I have a Proxmox 1.9 running with a local RAID5 - and want to move 10 Servers (mainly KVM-machines, some OpenVZ) to an new different hardware running Proxmox 2.1 on a similar local RAID 5 (Same Size , same 3ware-Controller) - all within the same network.
How to achieve that ?
My question or...
Thanks -
now i Konow it.
A workaround for me is :
1) to install further remote apps in the servers I need - i.e. RDP and NX or VNC progs on the running servers -
2) and an internal PC which is capable of network-booting from outside and which can be used to open up the servers via the...
Thank You, Udo, for writing on this - maybe we can solve it. :
My older main Desktop-Server-PC was a 8-GB-RAM-QuadCore-machine running openSuse 11.0 KDE 3.5.9 with VNC Sessions for the main user and his desktops on Ports 5900 and 5901-5903 as well as 5801 to 5803 for serving out remote KDM...
I reconnect my internal exchangeserver-session and the i directly reconnected it.
Another: " netstat -an | grep 59" was answered in this way
tcp 0 0 proxmox-IP:5900 Connecting-PC-IP:28346
So with what kind of methodology vnc is working ?
sorry for my cynical answer, but of course i can't give proxmox ALL or ANY ports.
In: /usr/share/pve-manager/root/qemu/vnc-direct.htm there is a line at the end concerning ports (the last block of text) -
which i Cant't properly copy and paste here easily - as i work via...
I connected as you said internally a vnc-session - then connected via ssh on the proxmox host - and did a "netstat -an | grep 59" .
I got the following :
tcp 0 0 Proxmox-IP:5900 Connecting-PC:7721
Maybe proxmox wants me to give it all 65535 ports ?
Maybe I'm silly ...
But i don't understand your message.
Do You mean by your remark : "Ports 5900 - 5999 " - that I have to redirect all these ports to proxmox - or to the proxmox-VMs which have specified IP-Adresses.
Maybe this is my mistake - I redirected a a Port like 48201 to the...
All proxmox-servers can be reached via the Apache-Webserver-Interface with their VNC Sessions - as long as I'm connected with them internally. With "internally" I mean another PC next to my proxmox but both behind a firewall-router-modem.
When I connect from outside - i.e. through my router...
I need to use both KVM and OpenVZ in proxmox.
With Kernel 2.6.18 this is possibly, but there is no Memory Balooning feature as in the improved kernels of 2.6.32.
There is a thread on this topic...
Could somebody please tell me about his experience with ..
I like to ask once again:
Has anybody here a machine running with proxmox on a 1280x1024 display and the VNC console sessions of their VMs as well on 1280x1024.
This is/was one of my main problems -
especially as a KVM machine...
how?? and what??
I want the same VM image to work out of the box on different machines,
Use VMWARE WS or Virtualbox for that - or make sujre that fully-virtualized Systems run on the same hardware under the same kernel on all maschines
ideally without having to open up a VNC console
how do...
I remember that I had a similiar issue with the installation of a MS SBS 2003 . Maybe the big difference here is that the OS reboots after the first CD is succesfully installed. The fresh installed basic OS then asks for the new CDs.
That gave me the time to connect to a running samba server...
Well, most of us Proxmox-users can read ... why don't you just print a special XP-Warning at the appropriate dialog box - with a further hint to some documentation.
Hello out there - and thanks for this wonderful product and this supportive community !
As I am surely not the only one who wants to work sometimes with a full featured Linux Desktop I like to list a few of the problems around this issue.
Maybe this could be useful as a reference list to other...
thanks for the vmware-vmmouse tip - it worked well.
I will work on this resolution issue at the end of this week - thanks for the tips up to know, to you TOM and You Dietmar. :)
I hope you keep your good spirit, even when peolpe ask similiar questions again and again - I hope to participate...
I only want to work within a linux desktop and resizable resolutions.
And this with some other distros as well.
If I can achieve that with loading the appropriate driver for a "usb tablet device" then I prefer this to recompiling the proxmox-kernel.
But how to do it? (And Why is my "detected...
I need to use or optimize graphical output in my virtual Linux maschines.
I have proxmox 0.9 running on an ASUS P5K Deluxe mainboard (highly linux-compatible) with 8096 MB RAM on an Intel Quad Core Q6700
and 2 x 500 GB SATA II discs. My Graphics card is NVIDIA Geforce 8500 GT - to be able to...
I mounted an Installation-CD with a physical DVD-drive.
The settings I used were:
Type: KVM (fully virtualized)
installation-media: CD-Rom device
Name: SBS Disk Space: 40 GB Memory (MB): 1024
VMID: 103 (2 others are present)
Start at boot: Yes
Disk Type: IDE
Guest Type: Windows 2003

hello,
I try to install as a fully virtualized kvm-vm
a fresh Win2003 SBS Server OR Win2k OR WinXP but none of these are started for installation by their CD-Installation-discs.
Using the new Suse-11.0-DVD there are no problems to start an installation
on:
proxmox 0.9
running on an ASUS...
