Never do an apt upgrade For anything else, there is not enough information to even speculate. We need logs, pveversion etc.

Can be closed .. in one of my experiments I set up a OpnSense firewall and the video I followed included setting up the pve-firewall with pretty restrictive rules ... I must have forgotten since I deleted OpnSense shortly after setup ... but...

Given that you can ping your second node, I'll venture a guess that it's *probably* not an issue with your first node. Check firewall rules/ACLs on whatever 192.168.5.1 is. If it has any sort of live log or traffic monitor, see if you can see...

The output of ip a andcat /etc/network/interfaces of proxmox01 and cat /etc/pve/firewall/cluster.fw would be helpful too. -

You could try needrestart: needrestart man page By default, it runs in interactive mode, i.e. if you update from the CLI (apt update && apt full-upgrade), it tells you whether a reboot is necessary, lists all services that need to be restarted...
