My only point here is that the term “snapshot” has different meanings, heavily depending on the contextual point-of-view: PVE VM snapshot This is the native Proxmox function. It freezes the current status of a VM. This state can be “unfrozen”...

online internal qcow2 snapshot creation/deletion (which is still the standard) can be slow esp. on heavy duty VMs / slow NFS links / RAM snapshots and the VM/disks need to be also finally freezed - with external snapshots / snapshots as...

... but for the FC LUN(s) per VM approach this would mean doing a manual (multipath) LUN/disk passthrough to the VM .... further I have read in another post that the disk passthrough is bypassing the PVE storage stack which can have unexpected...

sure, I've setup LUNs in passthrough mode in the past. I would like to avoid the LVM-PV-for-multiple-LVs route since the storage snapshots cannot be used. I understand the single LUN + LVM value in some scenarios though.

the VLAN SDN zone already does the clusterwide syncing heavyweight lifting. nothing stops you from creating a script that polls VLAN list from the external source and uses native CLI tooling to add VLAN entries. Then, cron is your friend :)

Thanks for offering this! :) I really had to look that up, "stonking" doesn't sound positive in my subjective recognition :-) (And no, I won't test it - I am much too conservative for that...)

Hey @Logicman , We understand your requirement. Many volunteers on this forum work in similar environments and face comparable constraints. However, the audience overlap for your specific question is relatively small: business PVE users...

Hi @Logicman, I would first ask where they got the idea from. I assume they got it from https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/platform-security/connections-and-credentials/r_SSHCredentialsForm.html. Without this, ServiceNow will discover exactly...

Did a bit of testing on a lab cluster before doing this on prod. Sharing the recipe I landed on. TL;DR: use an API token with a dedicated user, not root@pam. Even if PDM is "trusted infra", spreading root credentials is a habit you don't want...

On the master that is serving time to clients you need the "allow" line at least. In addition, IF the master does NOT have NTP available and you want to use the local clock instead, then you also need "local", but the stratum needs to be less...
