Ja außer die Fallstricke. Wenn ich die richtige Disk auswähle gibt es keinen Fallstrick. Das schlimmste was passieren kann, dass es nachher nicht schneller als vorher ist. -

use file services of vsan it's quite easy to setup, just take care about restriction on pg needed. create a nfs share and mount it on your esxi to have nfs datastore, do preparation on vm side (linux add virtio on initramfs, window prepare virtio...
