Aber auf welche Disks willst du deine Backups machen? S3 ist super für offsite Kopien und Langzeitarchivierung, aber Primärbackups kommen bei mir immer auf vernünftige Disks (SSDs)

I don't think there's any problem with the USB Flash Drive , I have used the same Flash Drive for Installing ExSi , and it worked just fine

Actually it seems I've figured it out - I noticed that in /etc/pve/nodes/pve/qemu-server there were .conf files for every VM I run. But the hostname is proxmox not pve, so I moved the conf files to the /etc/pve/nodes/proxmox/qemu-server folder...

Any other information about why it failed? Make sure the ISO is downloaded correctly by checking the SHA256SUM or downloading via a torrent. Did you use a recommended way to create the USB? Or maybe the USB flash memory stick is bad?
