You know, there is a thing called a "cross compiler" where you compile on a PC for a foreign target. This is very popular in the embedded space because most embedded chips are slow and have limited resources compared with a PC. If you do that...
By whom and for what purpose? its actively developed, if that's what you mean, but Proxmox has no tooling or integrated support. I've ran RGW in the past on Proxmox and the experience has been... mixed. tooling is a problem and there are...
You are not comparing apples to apples though. HyperV does RAID1 how exactly? Software RAID, Intel VROC, Hardware RAID, at a higher data distribution layer?
Windows is closer to what expected benchmark? Because a proper benchmark has a range of...
cache=none leaves the cache of the storage system enabled, use directsync instead. See here for comparision of caching modes https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Performance_Tweaks#Disk_Cache
This heavily depends on your applications, usecases and used Hardware.
For example running docker inside lxcs us known to break from time to time ( e.g. after updates) so any docker application should be run in a vm. But if you have limited RAM...
Probably: yes!
But please: PVE is meant to be the basis of a multitude of VMs. Put it on a stable hardware and avoid each and every "ideas" possible on this lowest level. Please!
This means PVE "owns" the hardware! No dual-boot whatever OS you...
it was definitely a firmware and not a kernel issue, since i could repro on any kernel (and distro) before getting the 2023 firmware from the manufacturer. it's been running fine since the update
Both (!) is suboptimal. (You know that, right?)
But if I am forced to choose: the PBS (or any backup system) should be independent from the source it will backup. You'll probably want the backup to be available and usable when (not: if!) the...
I haven't looked at the software in detail, but based on the description, I would say that it is possible to include Linux machines in such a cluster. In other words, if you have several Linux VMs with GPUs passed through on your Proxmox cluster...
Hi,
Yes, it still makes sense.
Even with one Proxmox server and one PBS server, you get faster backups, deduplication, and safer storage.
PBS is installed using the ISO file.
And yes, it’s best to run PBS on its own physical server.
I answered my own question. For those in the unknow like me:
1.) Go to your Datacenter --> Storage --> PBS Storage
2.) Highlight end edit
3.) Click on the Encryption Tab
4.) Copy your exising key from /etc/pve/priv/storage/(storagename.enc) to...
For me? Any device with PLP.
Via a German search engine: https:// geizhals.de/?cat=hdssd&xf=7156_Power-Loss Protection~7525_SATA
Most of my SSDs are "Enterprise class". Most of my NVMe are not. This make no sense, necessarily. But especially...
