I installed Proxmox 4 on two 4TB drives with ZFS RAID1. How can I tell the health status of the RAID array? Will it email me etc if one drive fails?

run zpool status to show if there are any read/write/checksun error and also crontab zpool scrub rpool on weekly or monthly basis

If you want to get informed of failure you must set up the zed client.
edit the config in /etc/zfs/zed.d/zed.rc

I use a weekly cronjob for scrubbing my ZFS pool "zfsspace".

> nano /etc/cron.weekly/zfs-scrub-weekly

#!/bin/bash


# set PATH
PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin


# set pool name
ZFS_POOL="zfsspace"


# start scrub
zpool scrub "$ZFS_POOL"

> chmod +x /etc/cron.weekly/zfs-scrub-weekly

and I send this my root email address, configured in etc/zfs/zed.d/zed.rc
