There is a package called zfs-zed whichg provides this functionality:

# apt-get install zfs-zed

Thanks, I get this error when trying to install it

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

attic : Depends: libjs-sphinxdoc (>= 1.0) but it is not going to be installed

Depends: python3-msgpack (>= 0.1.10) but it is not going to be installed

Recommends: python3-llfuse but it is not going to be installed

E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

I guess you installed that package('attic') yourself, it is not part of our dependency tree.

I removed attic (I am using borg instead) - do I have to configure something special to get the email to work - besides "
ZED_EMAIL_ADDR"

Is there an easy way to test the alerting/emails?

Thanks again

Did you ever get this setup and working? I'm looking to downsize and move all my drives currently in a dedicated freenas box over to my DAS, and emailed alerts for zfs is a deal breaker for me.
