I am running esxi now and I have problem providing Linux/Windows VPS if I wish to grow and put HA into consideration. VSAN is not easy to manage and if data lost then is an issue.

I chanced upon Proxmox VPS and Cloud for WHMCS by ModulesGarden. I read the feature and find it useful for my environment. I wish to sell Linux/Windows VPS, Cloud Servers and Dedicated Cloud.

I plan to setup as follow:-

ZFS x 2 nodes one for Windows one for Linux VPS
Dual E5 2650v2 128gb RAM 4X2tb HDD and 2X512gb NVME on PCIE with 10Gbps card.

Ceph x 3nodes
Dual E5 2650v2 128Gb RAM 12X3TB HDD and 2X 1TB SSD for caching with 10Gbps card.

Any improvements ?

For example, SSDs instead of the HDDs or >10Gbps network.

How many VM can host on a dual e5 8 core 96gb ram with 4X2tb ssd?
Given each VM is 1core 1gb ram and 40gb ssd storage.

Can we add 2x256gb nvme on pcie slot for zfs caching

Weakest point seems to be CPU? If you give assign each VM a core then you can get slightly more than a dozen VMs on one host?
