Hello,
i have a proxmox Server where i have to zfs pools. one Storage and one Volume. on Volume all my VMs are placed. In Storage are my Photos etc.

so if i add a new Harddisk Device to a VM who is located on the Storage, zfs shows me directly the Storage is completly used. For example i add 1000GB to a VM, the ZFS pool shows me direct the the VM is using the full 1000GB.

Is this correct?

Maybe you didn't checked the "thin" checkbox when creating the pool? If you don't check it then you won't get thin-provisioning.

If you keep an eye on the usage thin provisioning is always useful in my opinion because you can utilize your capacity more efficiently.
