I am testing latest Proxmox in our environment and discovered that I need to switch the Mellanox ConnectX-3 into Ethernet mode for it to work. When trying to install mft tools (from the "Getting started with Mellanox Firmware tools (MFT) for Linux" tutorial over on mellanox website), I get a message that "linux-headers" and "linux-headers-generic" needs to be installed. They are unfortunately not available in any of the repositories I've looked.

Does anyone know what's the path forward here or any alternate way to switch ConnectX-3 card into ethernet mode? Much appreciated.

Hi,

you only need the mft tool which needs no headers.

The Linux headers are available under the name "pve-headers-<version>-pve".
