XP pro sp3, ide disk,e1000 (last intel driver): the machine work perfectly
I use this only in Remote desktop connection. ifi i try to reboot or shutdown the machine (qm shutdown or webgui command menu') the machine not shutdown and if reboot host need some time to reboot and kill the machine.

if open vnc console, i see this msg

Translate:
other users currently logged on. shutting down Windows might cause loss of user data.
shut down the system?

I tested also that this problem really happens with a real pc when i push powerbutton (acpi signal)

now i try only this automatic method to resolv this problem:
"set up your system to automatically reply to a message box without displaying it"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms940850(WinEmbedded.5).aspx
if for enbedded xp but work in normal XPpro (tested)

open regedit:
* HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control
* create a new key: "Error Message Instrument"
* in Error Message Instrument key, add a value REG_DWORD description: EnableDefaultReply with value: 1 (0x00000001)

but i think is dangerous option.... reply to all messagebox?what type of message box?

there is other clean... solution?

when you press the "shutdown" button on the Proxmox VE admin interface it sends a acpi shutdown to the guest. it depends on the settings of the guest OS what happens next.

isn't final solution, but is a fix for my situation: (ita)
http://www.opensupport.it/portale/i...i-remote-rdp&catid=67:tech-avanzato&Itemid=56

in my situation a meed to reboot one time at week the host server, i make the regkey mod, and create some windows Scheduled Tasks to kill all rdp opened session some minutes first shutdoen the machine (in the link i have not published the bat file, not yet...)

I search and waiting for a correct and clear solution.... i don't like mod rekey....

you have any idea??

I found this, but still it's not quite right for intercepting the 'other users are logged on do you want to continue shutting down' message box to allow a proper shutdown. It just allows another way to do what Proxmox does with the 'Stop' button.

MS SysInternals has a cli utility called PsShutdown, that's similar to the 2 that were just mentioned except it works from Windows.
At first glance it seems a bit more robust than the built-in shutdown.exe.
