my current plan is to grab a couple X520-DA2 cards, 1 in my proxmox server and 1 in my main pc. would there be any benefit when connecting and running my virtual machine on my main?

ok i guess no one has tried 10gb/s. so how about duel gigabit in teaming mode? ? ?

teaming is a windows or vmware term. What do you mean: LACP?

10 GBE is fine, yet still expensive. Have you enough raw power on each end to use it? Even one SAS/SATA SSD is NOT enough to saturate the link.
