Hello All,

We have some old dinosaur Windows XP machines that we are converting into Proxmox. Some machines convert without issue. We do use the mergeide reg file. But some machines even after we use the mergeide and convert it to qcow2 we get the blue screen of death for the 0x0000007B.

Any thoughts.

If you had any antivirus s/w loaded 'at any time' on the original XP machines it may be the issue. Last year I moved an old win2k (had avast on it and norton at some point) and a win7 machine (also had avast) and had major problems with trying to get it to boot as a vm. Finally after a lot of loading images and generally stuffing around I managed to remove (plain uninstall wasn't enough, had to run actual remove antivirus programs and some files) them and that sorted out the vm boot problem. ymmv.
google for AV removal programs, pretty sure most AV program people have one, a plain command line remove did not clean out/remove some of the AV code.
