Hello I have a dell r720 server that had been running my vm's find but suddenly they are all running very slow or I'm getting a can't connect to vm error when trying to start the vm. Pm 8.2.8 is all up to date,

Pure guessing: check if your storage is somewhat degraded. This is a common reason for both hardware- and software-raid (and single disks...).
Also PERC on Dell do some maintenance once a month. Sometimes this slows down normal operation.
