today I install the stable virtIO drivers, Version x.185
I control the installation of the correct Version in the VirtIO Balloon and Serial Driver, the SCSI pass Through controller, VirtIO Ethernet, and so on. Everything without any fault.
The Task manager say: it’s running as it should, also the command line with the same result, the qemu guest agent on the Windows VM is running without any fault.
In the device manager everything is like described in the pve qemu guest agent wiki page.
BUT:
In the Proxmox WebGUI under Summery I get the output:
“No guest agent running”
the same with the pve command line:
Code:
root@pve01:~# qm agent 102 ping
QEMU guest agent is not running
also the qm shutdown does not work and so on ....
Reboot, new Installation, always the same result...

NOW
I get the solution:
(first: I have a backup and snapshots)
I go to the Windows VM device manager => devmgmt.msc
select View → Show hidden devices from the menubar
Ahhhh! Now I see next to the “everything is okay” serial device one more with this (fucking) yellow warning label.
Now I make it a little bit brutalize and delete not only this serial device with the warning label, I deinstall all, now visible hidden devices ...
shutdown the Windows VM - start the Windows VM
And the winner is ;-)
Now everything works as it should, now I get also in the PVE WebGUI a running guest agent and the remote commands are working as well.

so you can maybe save the time that this action cost me ;-)

regards,
