Hi - did anyone achieved an acceptable throughput performance on Proxmox VE 3.2 using directly attached NIC? I am on VE 3.2, pci pass through is working and successfully passed an Intel 82574L Gigabit Network Card to the host Windows 7 (attempted with Win2012 R2 server also) along with latest drivers. All looks fine, except the throughput. Measuring using iperf, between guest and host is always around 200Mbps - much lesser than possible gigi marks.

This is specific to Windows -- tested with a simple linux guest, speeds are up to the mark. Attempted suggestions under http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/WindowsGuestDrivers/kvmnet/registry with no luck.

Please share experiences/thoughts!

Thanks for the link - that was new for me. However that made the situation even worst -- the new tool is reporting an average speed of just 50Mbps. Within the time limits, I need to move on -- therefore opted to go with VMWare ESXi 5.5 and things are much better now (also a proof that the speed issue is nothing to do with hardware). As a bonus, I could now pass my MegaSAS RAID card also to the new Windows VM - which was causing crashes in proxmox (important for me as I use the windows server for file sharing and all my data is on that RAID card - prefer no virtualization there probably because I am too old).

I will be watching this thread to see the experiences from others -- I still have a test setup for Proxmox where I can still play with any new suggestions/findings.
