hi i have installed proxmox Virtual Environment 6.2-4 on a intel i5 cpu with 8GB ram and 450GB SSD.

i have created a vm with windows server 2019, but it's very slow.

when I connect to the vm by remote desktop, the vm reply slowly. i have to wait several secod only for opening a server manager or similar windows.

what can i check?

tks roberto

did you install the virtio drivers during the install? or did you build the vm using legacy interfaces (hard disk/network)?

how much ram did you allocate to the VM and are you running any other containers or VM's? 8GB is not very much ram for a proxmox server

my last 2019 rdp server is really fast...change to q35 and do not use host cpu but a version before e.g. skylake-server-no-irbs...always use virtio drivers and my vm has 32gb of ram and turn off ballooning...but 8gb ram for a host is way too less.

hi first of tks to all for your supports and for the quick reply.
about the memory , proxmox will host only this server.
i didn't istall virtio drivers yet, so i'll do it firstly .
about "hange to q35 and do not use host cpu but a version before e.g. skylake-server-no-irbs", pls can you give more details?
i'm new in using proxmox
tks roberto

I know many good reasons for doing this...the best reason is "only a virtual windows is a good windows" :)
